OK, first things first…to put my account of this weekend into perspective, you need to understand that shortly before I left, TPTB in my hometown decided to spray for mosquitoes, so by the time I arrived in St. Louis, breathing was a long-distant memory. As usual, you could hear me coming, but the culprit this time wasn’t the keychain collection, it was me wheezing (also sneezing and sniffling). My adventures began Thursday morning at airport security, when I had to have my carry on inspected and start up my laptop. While this all sounds routine enough, I almost sprained my wrist trying to turn off the volume when I was shutting the computer down…my exit sound byte is Aeryn’s ‘grenades’ line and I didn’t think the security lady would be amused!

When I eventually arrived in St. Louis, I shared a hotel shuttle with some other ‘Scapers and we decided to go see the Zoo. |

The Hilton Frontenac is absolutely gorgeous and the staff is wonderful! For Friday evening, they arranged for Farscape to be shown on a large screen TV in their Bar & Grill. Since the episode in question was part three of Look at the Princess, you can just imagine the reaction! (Hint: you could hear ‘Scapers all the way out in the lobby! Out in the parking lot maybe?) Adding to everyone’s high spirits was the fact that a representative of the Henson Company called committee members to inform them that they had arranged an entire series of live webcasts with the cast and crew from the Creation Farscape Con in Burbank. Due to the fact that smoking is permitted in restaurants in MO, I was watching from the hallway…it was very amusing to watch non-‘Scaper guests passing by wondering what the heck was going on in there! Hilton staffers encouraged other guests to go on in and take a look, since the ‘Scapers were obviously having such a great time. Saturday morning the Con officially opened. As we checked in, we received lovely goodie bags, the newly-revised-to-accommodate-the-webcasts schedule, and our nametags. It seemed that everyone (including me!) was meeting someone they knew from one of the lists or chats or b-boards. I spent the morning and a bit of the afternoon hanging out in the episode viewing room and writing (I know you’re all glad to hear that!) I took a break late afternoon and got back in time for Claudia Black’s webcast. She very graciously answered numerous questions about her role on Farscape and her other movies and projects, then stayed for most of Ben Browder’s webcast, too. Even out of character, those two have tremendous chemistry! The banquet featured a dazzling array of costumes, formal wear and everything in between. One of the highlights of the evening was the showing of some incredible Farscape music videos created by Sarah Wait. Yours truly managed to stop wheezing long enough to dance in the Talent Show…and that’s how a buncha folks figured out who the nut who’d been running around all day with the laptop was! The winners of the Fic, Filk, and Poetry contests were announced, as were the Aeryn Awards.

I spent Sunday morning in the AV room, where I got to view the wonderful works from the Art Contest. The first webcast of the day was with Anthony Simcoe; he is absolutely hysterical and looks and sounds nothing like D’Argo! A while later there was a webcast with Gigi Edgley. She was joined by Ben, who devised a great new method of joining the conversation – he ran into the room and vaulted over the couch! (Gigi would later emulate this trick!) Ben also thrilled the SACCers by wearing his very own SACC tee shirt. We also got to talk to David Kemper, Virginia Hey, and Richard Manning.
