Intro:En otro desvergonzado filler, les ofrezco esta
composición que realice como motivo de una asignación del curso de inglés en
la empresa en la que trabajo.Enjoy. About Brands. Since I can recall brands have been part of my life. The earliest brand I can think of remembering is Coca Cola. It is burnt in the lower layers of my brain like a cattlemark. Sony comes in a close second, and I remember it because i marveled at the shiny logo on my grandpa's tape recorder while I listened to Abba. Also a brand of instant mashed puree, Chef, that I still love and that my mother used to cook for me on our poorer days. During elementary school brands were already an issue between us students: Everybody wanted to have the "coolest" things (usually defined by the coolest brands), i.e.: sports shoes (Nike, Reebok) , sports gear (idem), video games (Nintendo), Walkman and it's parafernalia (Sony), and the luckier ones... computers (Commodore, Sinclair, Texas Instruments, et al). Through the rite of passage that is adolescence clothes' brands reigned supreme: When i was a teenager the coolest brands were Benetton, Swatch,Wrangler, Levis, Calvin Klein, Guess?. Of course it is a very well documented fact that being seen with the "WRONG" (i.e.:something "not cool enough") brand was the equivalent of social suicide. Thriller, Nike Feraldy(faux Nike), Lee jeans, etcetera, were some of the members of the "unlucky" group of the uncool gang . Wearing one of this brands could signify that your girlfriend was no longer your girlfriend, no invitation to the teen dances was to be issued to poor you and eventually pure and utter oblivion would befall on you forever. Once highschool and its frenzy of competition ended ,and also as adolescence retreated its ferocious hormonal attacks on my daily mood, the need for cooler brands seemed to fade away as well. The emphasis is now on QUALITY over HYPE.It doesn´t matter if a product has a superb marketing campaign, gives away free samples at the supermarket or showers us with free gimmicks and exclusive promotions. That is not what I want from products anymore. No more glitter, just the cold hard facts. The goods delivered. What i want to achieve now is to get the best quality out of things. Out of life.
