CIS365N
LAB 01

Hello My Name is Julie, I started at DeVry in the summer of 1991. DeVry at the time only offered Cobol and C programming classes to CIS majors.

My second term I got Cobol I with Ghalen Lahman but half way through the term Ed Nock suffered his first stroke so Robert Short took over our class and Lahman took over Nock's classes. The rest of the programming classes I have suffered through are Cobol II, JCL, C, C++, Java, and SQL. I have even tortured myself with a little Visual Basic (YUCK!), and PowerBuilder.

I am not into sports much. I don't watch games much and go to the games even less. I will watch the Ohio State verses Michigan game if I can, rooting for Ohio State of course, otherwise I don't waste my time. I do like to spend my time doing genealogy research. I enjoy talking to people to get their stories and history. I also like to take photos, I use my camera in the cemeteries to copy info from the stones instead of rubbings as most are to fragile to touch. I also like to get out and hike once in a while, this comes in handy when looking for old overgrown cemeteries. I have a new hobby/interest I like to call flying. My friend introduced me to this web site called FlyLady.Net that helps empower you to get rid of clutter in your house, my house is almost empty of clutter in less than three months. I also enjoy reading, mostly science fiction or fantasy. I just love the Harry Potter books that I am reading to my son. My interest also run into cooking and eating, which has lead me into exercising, healthy eating, and weight training.

I am hoping to find a job in web and or Java development that will let me work from home or at least telecommute part time. I have one small child that I want to spend time with and am hoping to start a second after June graduation. Being pregnant will of course make interviewing for a position fun, but I will have time to look and be picky since I have a great man to stand behind me. I could also find a nice job that makes more than him and he can stay home with the kids. I think he would actually like that. I guess it will all depend on time and circumstances in the end.
