Entry Seventy-Three -

Slow Time Down, For My Sake

Looks as though another day has passed me by. Today was the first official day of vacation, and it was a busy one, as I had predicted. I took care of most of the work I will have for the majority of the break, as foretold, so that I would have less work towards the end of break. I scheduled a band practice with my band for Monday, so we can actually get this band thing cooking.

Emma didn't call me back, but I can't say I'm upset or anything, a bit disappointed, but not upset at all. I heard she had a boyfriend in Santa Cruz, so I'm happy for her, and feel bad that I put her in the awkward position.

Started out today by waking up around 9:00, but it's not like that was sleeping late necessarily, because I'd been up till around 12:00 last night doing this and that. It was nice, because I had one of those awesome sugar snail-like things for breakfast. I haven't been very hungry today, I think I overdosed on Chinese food last night. I was feeling pretty sick until we had some soup and started talking politics. My parents are great conversationalists, which makes dinner one of the best things in the entire day. Moving on though, the day went on, and I went over and cleaned the church, which surprisingly didn't take me that long. After that, I sprinted home for the track exercise, and then sprinted back down toward my other job (right across the street from the church), which means that today I got a total of around $35 for 3 hours of work.

The day got progressively more and more dull throughout the day, however I did do a few things which made me proud - for example, work on the Livermore site, setting up some tables and such (web design), and of course playing with friends on Starcraft, which seems to be a great boredom killer. Instead of wasting time killing boredom with Starcraft tomorrow though, I'm going to be lifting weights and toning my muscles and such - I figure if I spend as much time doing athletic things as I do Starcraft, that I will eventually be as good an athlete as I am a gamer.

My mom's cooking dinner, so I should probably get going, but I've got a few last thoughts before I sign out for today.

Even though I've read 40 pages of Magister Ludi, I've decided that I'm going to read Steppenwolfe instead. It's very possible that I'll enjoy the novel a lot more, considering the circumstances of them and such. But also, Steppenwolfe is a quicker read, and I need to do a book report on something over the Christmas break. I have an inclination to finish The Glass Bead Game in the next two days though - even though it may be a lot of reading, I'm sure that I'll enjoy it.

I was thinking about applying for a job down the street today, and talked with my mom about it. I'd gotten all dressed up and everything, but we decided that instead of getting a job now, with Track and Tennis coming up, and all sorts of other upcoming activities like the actual Academic Decathlon, and the removal of my wisdom teeth, that it would be a good idea to wait till either my birthday in May or summer.

O.K., she wants me to go put out the vitamins . . . love you Mom ;).
Take care my friends.

P.S. --- I've finished my Freedom of Speech essay! I'm going to do one more proof, then I'll upload it onto the web!
