Entry Fifty-Seven -

Speak Slowly, Think Quickly

The title above is a proverb which I intend to follow for a great portion of my life. Speak slowly, and think quickly - those are wise words which one before me learned and now, I too have learned. I've read 75 pages of Siddhartha tonight and I'm hopefully going to finish it before the night ends. The class is less than half way through the book, but it intrigues me so I'm going to read it and continue on Hesse's collection providing I continue to enjoy his style. He's an incredible writer, and Siddhartha is a story that has taught me much already. In many ways I envy the life of Siddhartha (notice I put this in present tense, because a character in a book is a character that has and always will exist) - even though he has no possessions for much of the novel, there is a glamour to Siddhartha which is easy to admire, his sense of appreciation for everything in nature around him, his keen mind and the way he exercises it, and the way that he continues back to the three basic skills - patience, fasting, and the most important - the ability to think.

I've been listening to an amazing European techno song with trance elements called "Fallen Angel, The Dolphin." Of course the title doesn't make sense to me because the song lacks any words besides, "the fallen" and "the dolphin", however I'm able to deduce that the title had some sort of important significance to the writer, and I certainly hope that he or she is happy.

I'm looking forward to both cleaning the church and to swing dancing tomorrow, despite the fact that Siddhartha would laugh at such simple pleasures.

I'm feeling good, and I'm doing well in school. Sometimes I think the two tie together. Today had some stress in it, but I've learned to conquer stress through thinking and breathing. Now, life seems so much more tranquil. For example, today I totally forgot that I was obligated to stay after school today for my second drivers training, but I managed to work things out and I went on the lesson with the instructor anyway. Of course it was good fortune, but it was also good planning in a bad situation. Another challenge I've been given to conquer I guess, but it's not enough to disappoint me.

By the way, I caught a flaw in my entry vs. day method - I had an entry posted twice and nobody mentioned it to me, and I don't look back often, so I hadn't caught it. At the end of this year, I will reread my life for this year as an anthology, put it away, and start the next year anew. I fixed the numbering.

Take care my friends.
