Entry Forty-Three -

Different By Being the Same

Today was a good day. How good of a day you ask? Today was a good day.

Allow me to explain my thinking.

Today started off with me waking up at 6:33. Of course I'd hit my alarm 3 times by then, but it was well worth it because I fell back to sleep for 10 minutes before each buzzer went off. That's how tired I was. I woke up after I started walking in the 40 degree air though, so life was good.

Diversity club had an announcement, today was "mix it up" day, and we were supposed to visit with people we don't usually hang out with. Of course, I did some serious integrating. One of my favorite things to do is meet new people, and I certainly did a lot of that. I did so much of that, that I actually had a bead of sweat go down my face from walking so much. It was a lot of fun, and I made a few new acquaintances, whom I will hopefully get to know more.

At the same time, I found the whole situation extremely ironic, and another stunt pulled by the devious popular culture. Once again, we were all being "different", and "mixing it up" at the same time, which is a humongous choke on my originality. Despite this, I swallowed my pride and had a great deal of fun. There's nothing wrong with people who are popular, please don't misunderstand me, but there's still an aspect about the culture in which popular people reside, which has a sense of cockiness and self-interest that annoys me.

My oldest friend Ryan's brother, Sean, informed me that "Metroid Fusion" for the Game Boy Advance is worth buying a Game Boy Advance over. He knows I'm a super-Super Metroid fan, so it was very thoughtful of him to mention it to me. Perhaps I can find an auction on eploids.com which I can spend all my ploids (those little points on the backs of chip bags) that has a Game Boy Advance on it. That'd be convenient, and I think I'll try for it.

Second period was good as usual, fourth period was World Civ. and we studied for the test and such, and in sixth period was had the opportunity of watching the Santa Rosa Dance Company doing some sort of performance in the gym. That was bad for awhile though, because we were forced to sit still for 60 minutes while they prepared. When they actually started dancing they weren't half bad. All the girls went crazy because of a break-dancer male named Mario or something like that. Ha, some guys get all the women, it makes me laugh, especially when one considers that they don't even know him, but rather have seen him spin and step in little circles on a hard floor.

Got home and I was dying to listen to some music, so I popped on some good ol' Linkin Park and started playing along with them on my piano. After that, I listened to my latest music compilations mix called "Zuit Suit Revolution", and enjoyed it for about 30 minutes while I danced with my shadow.

Read a bit, played Starcraft with ~Great-One-SC~ (Bobby, my friend in Florida), and ~P.A.N.E.-SC~ (Kristofer, my friend in New Jersey), then played some chess with my mom. We had a great left-over dinner. Leftovers are the best, they're even better than the first night I think. The food gets better with a bit of age.

I'm looking forward to a World Civ. test tomorrow, and I won't talk to anyone during the test!

Take care my friends.
