Entry Thirty-One -

A Voice So Quiet

"Naturally the common people don't want war: neither in Russia, nor in England, nor for that matter in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is the always a simple matter to to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, or denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."
-Hermann Goering, Hitler's #2 man, before being sentenced.

My friend Shoshi e-mailed that to me just today, and it really made me think, so this entry is going to be in response to the idea that the opinion of the public is powerless to the stern voice of the public representatives - the minority. This scenario however can be seen on many different levels and on many different viewpoints. For example, a person who is different from others may be persecuted for his differentiation. That situation is relative to what's going on in contemporary American society today, at least this is how I view the situation. I don't think many of us are truly happy with George Bush at the moment . . . 2 of the 16 terrorists were from Iraq, yet we choose to bomb Iraq over the other majorities. Could there be something beneath the surface? I think so. Allow me to explain.

A war on terrorism, or an exploition of tyrannical power? Could Mr. Bush simply be enstating himself into a position of power, and these so-called "allies" are merely exploiting theirselves as well? I believe the war on terrorism to be countries eliminating what they deem as weaknesses in their society - for example, changing laws, eliminating objects - whatever they may be.

How long is this going to go on? I'm not a soldier, but I'll fight if I have to. I'd rather not watch someone die, but I don't think I'll have to - why you ask? It's simple . . . the reason we're attacking countries like Afghanistan and Iraq is because of their oil. Bush is a greedy fool, he always has been. Oil is an extremely valuable natural resource, and the exports of oil from those two countries are some of the highest in the world. I believe the statistic was that 90% of American oil comes from that portion of the world.

Some of you may think, "This is not my fight, this is not my battle", but it is. We are the American citizens, and the time to step up is before something terrible occurs. Do not misinterpret me. I do not promote overthrowing our government necessarily, but I certainly promote a change in the current course of action. This is unjust because the minority is involving us in issues we have no part in.

For legal purposes - I have no responsibility for anything said in this entry. Kiss me.

Take care my friends!
