Entry Twenty-Seven -

I Wonder If A 13 Hour Workday Is Legal

My title just about sums up my attitude right now. I need to figure out a way to cut down on the work load a bit. I woke up at 6:12 this morning, my clock is back to its regular attitude of going off when it wants to.

Keeping my promise to all of you from yesterday, my results on the Algebra II Exam were pretty good. I got a low A, which raised my grade in the class 2%, from an 86% to an 88%, placing me in the mysterious range of the "B+". It bothers me when my friend complains that her grade in that class dropped from a 99.6% to a 99.04%, complaints like that are invalid. Wonder how she does it . . . I barely understand the first half of this chapter, but I complete understand the second half, we have a test next Wednesday though, so I better find out.

Current music playing: Zuit Suit Riot - Big Bad Voodoo Daddies.

Current mood: Put some more swing dancing music on, and let me watch a room of people dance until I fall asleep.

I finished all of my homework before GATE started, so I don't have any other obligations tonight. Hopefully I can get an extra hour of sleep, but my Dad's watching T.V. and my Mom will most likely come in soon, so that means noise and a light shining in my eyes.

Previously I've mentioned a little bit about stereotypes I believe, but I've been wanting to elaborate for awhile, so I'm going to spend the rest of this entry doing so.

Just awhile ago I was thinking about the idea of what a "goth" really is. Most people would say that it's a style of dress, celebrating the beauty in darkness, or the color black. I'm not too sure that's the case though anymore. I saw some regular "phonies" (in the words of Holden Caulfield) dressed in all black today, but they certainly weren't "goths".

There's something omitted in a true goth that isn't omitted in a fake goth. It'd be like if I wore a tuxedo to school everyday, I'd probably get pretty comfortable wearing a tuxedo and wouldn't think twice about wearing it to a casual event, whereas a person who rents a tuxedo and signs a responsibility for damages form would probably be a lot more cautious in his environment. That's exactly what I noticed today.

What I'm trying to tell everyone is that it's not the clothing that makes the person, or whatever it may be - if everyone walked around naked they'd still be the same person. But, with clothing on people gain a certain power, a freedom of will and expression. I could go to school tomorrow as "Bob the Goth", and immediately become stereotyped according to the negative connotations with the gothic community, or continue dressing comfortably and wear the "skin" that best fits my skin.

For the sake of yourselves, be yourselves. Don't do it for someone else either, do it for you.

"What good is music, what good is melody, if it ain't possessing something sweet?" - Track 5 on Zven's Swing Dancing Mix, I should know the title, but I honestly don't recall.

Exciting excerpt from the story of my day: Local chess grandmaster from Forestville has contacted the El Molino Chess Club and stated that he would be more than happy to come and tutor during an evening a logical and "book" aspect of chess. What fun for me! (Crap, another obligation . . .) Oh well, it's worth it! What an opportunity!

Take care my friends

P.S: I'm going to post a link to a message board sponsored by a free web site (so it'll be semi-decent) so any of you may comment on entries. There will be columns for you to type the entry number, your name, and then of course your comment on the entry. Even though this site is for me, I'm interested to know what you're all thinking.
