The last day of finals has left me with nothing but a smile on my face. Started out the day with something entirely different than usual - well, to an extent. I walked off the bus into that big bad world known as "high school", and did my usual glance left and right to see if there's anyone I feel like talking to. It's one of those, "Hello world, I just got off the bus, and now you're going to give me something to do" moments. So, the world provided, and I took a sharp left around the arch of the bus circle and said hello to a few of my friends that I hadn't talked to in awhile, then went back and started to head for P.E. On the way to P.E., I talked to my pink haired friend Jenna for a minute or two - asked her how mid-terms were going, etc. etc. For not knowing each other hardly at all we get along very well. The mighty 6th period started (which is P.E. - the final I had today), so I toddled my way off to class and dressed down as usual. Walked up stairs, did the P.E. finals for the day, despite my sickness, and passed with flying colors. I was even able to "trunk lift" or "back flex", depending on what you call it, which has been the hardest test for me due to my horrible lower back strength and ability to arch my back. So - final #6 - no problem. After the finals, we are given a few minutes of break time before the next class, so I decided to go over and check my results on the Algebra II final. Nothing but good news! I looked on the wall for my number and saw 78.0 for a final score, and 89.963 B+ for a class grade next to it. These numbers don't mean much to you yet, but after I tell you what they represent you'll be very happy for me. The final was out of 75 points - it had been given a "10 question leeway" since Deis doesn't use curves, he gives us "leeway". I got 104% on the final, which raised my grade into the class into the ironic 89.963. The cut off for an A- is a 90%. The totally ironic thing however, is that I told Mr. Deis yesterday, "Mr. Deis, If I had a 89.996633 or something like that in the class, would you round it up to a 90%?" His answer was, "An 89.996633 is an 89.996633, but I'd look at your score on the final and your last test score and judge to see whether you're improving or not." He noticed I'd gotten an A+ on the final, and an A on my last test, and said I'd definitely been improving. He gave me an A in the class, which meant a lot to me. 5th period finals - no problem. And now, the last final - 7th period. The final was extraordinarily easy because I was extraordinarily prepared. The only thing that I didn't recall however was the nomenclature of chemical names - whether or not to put mono in front of the first term. Of course, after I had turned the test in it immediately came back to me, and I was able to realize, "No Bob, you're doing it wrong." Luckily, I had planned for such stupidity and lack of realization on my part by marking two of them by my first instinct, and two of them by my "correct" instinct. Yes for preparation! Finals went well. Very well. Sadly, I'm still sick, but I'll wear a hospital mask so I can still see my grandmother on Sunday. I want to see her. But to disregard all of this anxiety - I vented myself with a nice fix of swing dancing. I had a great time, and met some cool new people, whom I hope to dance with some time again. Take care my friends!
