The One Virus Worth Catching!

You won't want to catch the standard flu or bird flu this winter (or ever!) but the viral marketing bug is well worth catching, especially if you would like incurable success.

Viral marketing is creating a buzz about your business, whether it is by offering free ebooks/services that can be passed from person to person or recommendations from a customer, it all results in accumulating the snowball effect and having your message spread like wildfire.

Here are some ideas you can implement to help you get your viral marketing campaign of the starting blocks:

(1)Free ebooks are one of the more common ways of getting viral marketing to work for you. Allow people to put an ad in your ebook as long as they offer your ebook free to their website or ezine readers.

(2)Allow people to use your free offerings as bonuses for their information products. Remember you must provide good information, to make it worth passing on, and a link to what you are selling or offering.

(3)You need to find the right person to tell your product/service about. If you get your message in front of some influential people - they can start the commotion about your product i.e. top marketers if you are in Internet Marketing or whoever is at the top of your niche.

Or ezine editors for this article. Yes an article is a prime example of a viral product. By offering free reprint rights as long as the resource box is kept intact, your message can spread all over the net.

(4)Think about approaching people in complimentary services to yours i.e. if you are selling a dog training manual, exchange links with a person offering a dog treat recipe book. You are both offering your customers extra value and therefore both win.

Tips for using your actual paid product/service to create that buzz.

(1)Your product/service needs to be good. You must impress your customers and make them want to spread a good vibe. A note of warning if what you offer is not good and you don't treat your customers right - bad buzz spreads faster and further than good news.

(2)Make sure your product/service message is easy to explain and easy to remember. Make your message effortless to pass on. Something unique, unusual or radical will usually work - remember the message "Remember the first time you saw a Walkman" or them crazy Honda ads!

(3)Always thank your customers for their business. You can use this opportunity to offer them a discount voucher for next time they shop with you and ask them to recommend a friend and offer them the same discount. Pay it forward.

(4)Be persistent, ask for referrals again and again - some people will not catch the winter flu until May! Expose your customers to your message until they catch your marketing bug and pass your message on .

It can be worth combining several viral marketing techniques to make a herd of traffic into a stampede. Are you excited? You should be!

You know all this is good advice, so why not go and share it with someone. Let the viral marketing commence!
