Publicity Our Leining group has grown very nicely in the weeks since it has been started but it would obviously the more participants we have the more affective it can be. If every gabbai on this group encourages the baal korei in his shul to join, we will double the membership. If every baal korei on this group encourages the gabboyim in his shul to join we can more than double the membership again. If every gabbai or baal korei invites their local sofer to join the group it increases still more and every sofer can also be asked to and the sofers are in touch with the most people are in the best position within the most shuls in the best position of all. Until now the publicized the leining group we want to be an even more effective and important force than it is today. Gemar chatimah tovah. David Grossman. The computer literacy program is intended to assess the rehabilitation potential of computer and Internet literacy" however it did not relate to the aspect of motivation. How indeed will the youthfull offenders be able to how indeed is it intended to pull the youthfull offenders from their existing way of life on a regular ongoing and continuing basis which can be measured and assessed? The project statement continues with a recommendation that the at risk youth work on their writing skills. How can this be accomplished without a teacher-classroom-student relationship? More specifically, what is going to bring these students to write on their own - with our without mistakes - and to motivate them to do such? The suggestions listed - higher self-esteem and a greater sense of empowerment must be coupled with motivation. The recommended online network which is a fine suggestion must be focused so that the offenders will find a need to become part of it and to stay with it. The goal of my proposed project will not just accomplish the existing goals but will increase recidivism to a nearly tolerable level. If not to a nearly tolerable level then to a level which is much better than that experienced in most other programs of this nature. The Alliance Health Group Home in Stoneham will indeed provide excitement. Extending that excitement to long term motivation is the goal of my addition to the program. The proposed laboratory and practice sessions can remain the same, however, I would recommend that the offenders be granted additional free time to use the computers on their own with non-professional supervision. I predict that they will demand this additional time after experiencing the excitement and motivation of the proposed additions. The ongoing counseling sessions will remain as planned with the addition of the specific professional group that recommended. I would move the electronic mail (weak fork) to week 2 and change the name to electronic mail forums and I would then have word processing and basic composition be changed to weeks 3-4, world wide web to remain as week 5 and everything else remains the same in sequence and the rest of the sequence remains the same. NOTE TO MYSELF: Remove world wide web from my comment. How do I see myself in this project? The moderator, facilitator, the driving force behind the two groups requires various must have various skills. He must be able to have certain writing skills. This is one of the foci of the program. But far more important, he must be skilled in working with youth, leading Internet groups so that in leading and directing Internet groups professional Internet groups of this nature, in interpersonal skills which elicit productive communications among participants in an ongoing productive and goal-oriented manner. These skills goes well beyond traditional group dynamics and leadership. The professional Jewish Internet which I moderate has no competition within the Jewish world and no peer in the worldwide secular community. These dozens of groups represent the unchallenged model for effective, dynamic, and forward-moving group activity in a wide range of predetermined areas. Devoted participants throughout the world are caught up in the excitement. These worldwide forums people whose native tongue is not English participate in these worldwide forums and communicate with increasing English skills. They feel an attachment to the groups. This sense of belonging defines and refines their attitudes and behaviors. It is this potent force which I would recommend to bring into this program. While this proposal has a number of additional advantages. Number one it does not change the substance of the original research design. Two period the results are measureable and quantifiable. Specific areas of success can be developed in future research. No additiona investment is required in hardware, software, or training beyond that of the original course design. BUT IF YOU WANT TO GET PAID, THEN THERE IS AN ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT. OTHERWISE IT SOUNDS AS IF YOU ARE VOLUNTEERING YOUR SERVICES. And this project will be at the forefront of a new wave of computer based training and rehabilitation. Known risks and negative factors: The pilot study did not allow the proposed forum. It will be necessary to modify the original project design in order to allow for these changes. About David Grossman.
