Riena Heartsong
Riena is, again, a separate story.  Orphaned as an infant, she was adopted by a cruel man and his wife, and used for her talents.  When she was but thirteen, unspeakable circumstances led her to exile.  A lost, scarred soul of single-minded terror and distrust, she cowered from the very glance of those that wished to aid her.
When Jane came upon Riena, she was still a very frightened, timid girl.  However her voice and fingers soared with more emotion than Jane had ever supposed a single person could possess.  Always a lover of music, and absolutely captured by those huge, haunted brown eyes, Jane meant to befriend the minstrel, but was rebuked and fled from at every turn.  Frustrated, she gave up, and it was only when she was in need of advice that Riena approached her, and befriended her, instead of the other way around.
One thing led to another, the friendship grew, and Riena became a fountain of wisdom for Jane, and Jane an unwavering guardian for Riena.  However, circumstances were not to remain in their favour.  In one dreadful forte, Riena was snatched from Jane's protective grasp.  A ghost from the past, a cat that was much more, and the second coming of Clarity all worked against the two friends, and before Jane was able to reach the fragile minstrel, to save her very soul, the girl suffered the fate of her parents so long ago.  Her candle was extinguished at a very young age, leaving Jane to grieve and live in relentless guilt.
