Little is known of Jenice as of yet. She is the granddaughter of the eldest Maichen brother, Yorath, and the daughter of a cousin that Jane never met, Findlay. Jenice is three years Jane's junior, and doesn't meet her "Aunt" Jane until she's fifteen and Jane is eighteen. They are actually cousins.
Jenice is a very confused girl. She lived a very isolated childhood with a mother who couldn't stand her presence, and a father that was far too busy running his fief to pay attention to her. With little to do, and no one to watch her, Jenice fell into a bawdy crowd of rogues thanks to one of the stablehands. Being thrust into the twisted lifestyle was such a shock to Jenice that for a long time she didn't know which end was up.
One evening while ignorantly running some ungodly errand for a swarthy unknown who promised a kiss, Jenice ran into a loudly drunk young man and his laughing, petite companion. Something caught the petite one's attention, and she demanded Jenice's name, then her Family name. The Maichen name was revealed, and Jane, the companion, was shocked. She took the girl under her wing.
The rogues, however, had taken an unhealthy shine to Jenice, and much unpleasantness ensued. |
