Britney to Wed Her *NSYNC Lover Justin
(7.9) Source - News of the World UK: OOPS...I'm afraid I'm forced to start off with some devastating news for us boys. Britney Spears is getting hitched to her sweetheart, 19-year-old *NSYNC pop pin-up Justin Timberlake. Yep, the curly-haired American hunk went down on one knee and popped the question to Britney, who has vowed to stay a virgin till she marries. And she said, 'Yes.' So lucky lad Justin is on a promise after slipping the 30,000 diamond engagement ring on her finger.
Justina major star in the USmade the shock proposal to 18-year-old Britney during the couple's recent trip to New York. A close pal of Justin informed me: "They were in a cafe having a coffee when Justin pulled out this ringBritney was left speechless. ...They haven't set a date for the big day. They're just taking things slowly. The engagement is a very private matter for them. I don't think they've even told their parents."
The teenage pair have known each other since they were kids. They appeared together on American children's TV show The Mickey Mouse Club in 1993 when she was just 11 and he was 12. The ex-Mousketeers met up again in November 1998 when Britney was supporting *NSYNC on a US tourand they have been dating on and off since then.
"Its all very exciting. They may only be teenagers but they haven't got any money problems," said Justins mate. "Both are massive artists in their own right." Just last month Justin's band *NSYNC sold over two million copies of their album "No Strings Attached"in just ONE week. And Britney has enjoyed amazing success since bursting onto the scene with smash hit single 'Baby One More Time.' But she's been unlucky in love. At one point she admitted using astrological charts to help her choose the right man. She also went through a phase of fancying Prince William.
Now she's tying the knot she'll hope her male fans don't turn their backs on her. When I met up with her recently she told me how much she loved her sexy image. She said: "Any woman who says she doesn't want to be sexy is lying. When I perform I get all warm and sweaty but the main thing about being sexy is just being yourself and when guys see that it's very attractive. The main thing Im attracted to in a guy is his confidence. Looks really dont mean that much to me. Its all about personality, you know." Of course, Brit.

Coliseum Manager Defends Decision Not to Evacuate Before Concert
(7.8) Source - thedepot.com: GREENSBORO - Greensboro Coliseum officials Thursday defended their decision to inform *NSYNC band members of a bomb threat at their July 4 concert while keeping more than 15,000 fans in the dark. Evacuating the near sold-out Coliseum minutes before boy-band sensation *NSYNC was to take the stage Tuesday night would have "potentially put 15,000 people in danger," Coliseum Managing Director Matt Brown said. Coliseum officials followed proper policies and procedures, Brown said, after the bomb threat was called into the Coliseum just before *NSYNC was scheduled to take the stage as the headliner in the five-act show. Brown wouldn't detail the Coliseum's policy on responding to bomb threats, but did say that police officers, representatives of the fire marshal's office and Coliseum staff members were involved in a search for suspicious packages immediately after the call was received at the Coliseum. Concert-goers said they were told the 90-minute delay was caused by technical difficulties. Brown said band members chose to return to their tour bus after being told that the search of the Coliseum could take some time. "They had been there since 4 o'clock," Brown said. "They chose to return to the comfort of their tour bus rather than stay in the building."
Capt. Gary Cundiff of the Greensboro Police Department said that coliseum officials made the decision not to evacuate the coliseum. "If a suspicious package had been located after the search began, then it would become a police operation, and we would make the decision," Cundiff said. Nothing was found in the search of the building. Cundiff said the bomb threat was phoned in a short time after several fans had been told to leave the Coliseum or face arrest. Police suspect the threat had something to do with that.
"I was real concerned that they did not evacuate or anything," said Linda O'Neal, who attended the concert with her husband and three children. "I think they were just scared about the money they were going to have to return."
Chuck Vestal, events services director at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, said that coliseum's plan doesn't call for evacuation of concert-goers and talent unless a suspicious package is found. The most important part of his coliseum's bomb-threat policy, he said, is not to create panic. "Every one that I've received, we've done a search," he said. "It has to be done without creating a real panic or concern."
Debi Silber, who attended the *NSYNC concert with three of her six children, said Greensboro Coliseum officials made the right decision Tuesday night. "My take on the whole situation is, 'Thank God I wasn't the one having to make the decision,'" Silber said. "I can't imagine what a terrible burden that was. The place was filled with tens of thousands of screaming young girls," she said. "The thought of a stampede or people being trampled, that scares me more. I have to trust whoever made the decision ... must've said this doesn't fit the profile of someone who is for real," she said. "Because I can't imagine that they'd put my life at risk."

*NSYNC Song Featured in Clint Eastwood Film
(7.8) Source - Launch: *NSYNC's song "Space Cowboy (Yippie-Yi-Yay)" - from the multiplatinum album No Strings Attached - will be featured in the upcoming Warner Bros. film Space Cowboys, staring Clint Eastwood, Tommy Lee Jones, Donald Sutherland, and James Garner. The track can be heard in the trailer at the movie's official website, spacecowboys.net, but *NSYNC's Jive Records label could not confirm the details by press time.
"Space Cowboy" is one of the four tracks on No Strings Attached written and produced by group member JC Chasez, and it features a guest rap by TLC member Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes. Chasez told LAUNCH, "'Space Cowboy' is a song about the end of the world. I would say [it's] my favorite one I've done so far, because it's just a great song. I'm just very proud of it. I love everything that happened on the song, and it's not just another love song. It's actually something else - it's a concept song, which is pretty good." Chasez added that the fan response to the hip-hop-flavored song has been very positive. "Actually, a lot of people think it's creative. They feel like we're kind of pushing the door to a new sound," he said. "We don't want everything to sound the same. We don't want everything to sound like what everybody else is doing. You want to try and push and be a pioneer to create a new sound."
The film Space Cowboys is about a group of Air Force test pilots passed over by NASA to be the first Americans in space in 1958, when a chimpanzee got the honor instead. Years later, the retired team of would-be astronauts - the titular "space cowboys" headed up by Frank Corvin (Eastwood) - is recruited to retrieve a malfunctioning Russian satellite. Eastwood produced and directed the film, which opens nationwide on August 4.

*NSYNC's Bass Draws Teen Crowd
(7.5) Source - Yahoo: GREENSBORO, N.C. - He was visible for less than half a minute, and that was long enough to drive the girls into a frenzy. Lance Bass of the dreamy vocal group *NSYNC appeared at the Fun Fourth Festival on Tuesday to introduce country singer Meredith Edwards, a childhood friend and the first artist signed to his record label. Well before his scheduled appearance, girls crowded the sides of the stage and, blocked by police tape, stared longingly at his tour bus. "We'll just follow him wherever we can," said 13-year-old Amanda Downes, who rushed the stage with a 12-year-old friend. When he finally appeared, Bass greeted the crowd, introduced Edwards, waved and left the stage. It lasted 26 seconds. "I think I saw the back of his head!" shrieked Danielle Marchione, 18.

Lip Synchers?
(7.4) Source - Parade Magazine: A question was recently officially asked about *NSYNC & the rumor of lip-synching. Here's the truth:
"My Husband says it's impossible for the boys of *NSYNC to do their aerobic moves and sing simultaneously, so they must be lip-synching. I say they are actually singing. Who is right?"
"You are. *NSYNC never lip-synchs. Joshua "J.C." Chasez, 23, Justin Timberlake, 19, Chris Kirkpatrick, 28, and Joey Fatone, 23, and Lance Bass, 21, practiced for hours to get in shape before going on tour, so audiences would not hear them huff and puff while they do their moves and sing. Frankly, it seems a waste of time, since most young female fans are watching the boys' hips, not their lips."

Fumanskeeto Scopes Concert Crowds for Models
(7.4) Source - MuchMusic: During a recent interview, Rick the Temp was chatting with the FuMan crew, including Chris' girlfriend, Danielle. It doesn't matter what shape or size you're in, as long as you're willing to do it.

AJ Set To Beat *NSYNC's Record
(7.4) Source - YM: The August edition of YM contains an article with AJ McLean in which one question involves the *NSYNC vs. BSB contreversy:
YM - "Do you feel any pressure to sell more albums than *NSYNC did with 'No Strings Attached'?"
AJ - "I know it bothers some of the other guys more than it bugs me. I do hope we beat their record, but i don't want anyone to think it's Backstreet Boys against *NSYNC. There's a subtle competition between us, but behind the scenes we're all friends. When it really comes down to it, I think the Backstreet Boys stand alone in our singing ability, and our next album is going to blow everyone away. When it comes out, all the other groups are going to go 'bye bye bye'!"

*NSYNC Cancels Rose Bowl Show
(7.4) Source - Infobeat: PASADENA - Fans of *NSYNC will miss a second chance to see their idols in action this summer at the Rose Bowl because the group has canceled an Aug. 9th performance, a stadium official said Tuesday. The chart topping musical group performed at the Rose Bowl on June 9th and planned to return to tape a Fox TV special with pop stars Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. But *NSYNC is now unable to appear because of a scheduling conflict, Rose Bowl General Manager Darryl Dunn said. The "Summer Music Mania" event had to be canceled because the five-member band was headlining the show, he added. "We're disappointed. In all likelihood, we'd had our *NSYNC dose for the year," Dunn said. "Hopefully in the future, they'll come back." The group could have performed Aug. 13th at the Rose Bowl, but the stadium will host a Major League Soccer game Aug. 12th and a swap meet Aug. 13th, Dunn said. "The schedule could not be changed."

Justin Questions the UK BoyBand Phenomena
(7.4) Source - WorldPop: Justin Timberlake of *NSYNC has dismissed the quality of UK boy bands, claiming that many British pop acts do not sing at all. Speaking exclusively to worldpop, the singer said the band keeps a firm eye on the British charts, concluding "There are a lot of acts in the UK that really don't sing."
*NSYNC is supporting Britney Spears on her UK tour in October & hope to use the concerts to show UK fans what live pop music is all about, even toning down choreography in order to concentrate on singing live. "We haven't done a lot of shows over in the UK yet, so you've got to go back and introduce yourself," Justin said. "We want to get our point across that we're vocalists." Justin described the British pop market as 'overflowing' & spoke of his confusion at the amount of boy bands able to hit high in the UK charts. "There are definitely a lot of them over there! I don't understand the whole competition thing, it makes me laugh."

*NSYNC Donates $6,000
(7.4) Source - KDWB: Local MN radio station KDWB, sponsored a radio-thon to raise money for Variety Family Center, which helps families with kids that have disabilities.
