A Tiyyul is a nature hike, a tour, or a siteseeing excursion. You take a tiyyul in Israel by foot or by a rugged vehicle.
Israel is defined as the full and complete Land of Israel in its largest sense.
You don't have to rough it, but you would never go on a real tiyyul in a luxurious air-conditioned bus.
Question: Why is the word Tiyyul spelled with two y's?
Answer: The letter yod in the Hebrew spelling has a dagesh, which strengthens or doubles the sound.
Question: This forum seems to be the only place in which the sound is doubled. Why doesn't everybody else spell tiyyul with two "y"s?
Answer: Ask them. Better yet, try to convince them to spell it correctly.
Question: What happens if I join the Tiyul group, with one "y"?
Answer: You will receive a message urging you to join this group instead.
