Many people feel that the issues relating to Shmitta are not applicable during most of our lifetime, but that is not the case, and it is certainly not the case for this forum.
The year of Shmitta itself, of course, the group will be quite active.
The year before Shmitta we will have increased activity as we all prepare for Shmitta and review the relevant issues.
The year after Shmitta is really a continuation of Shmitta for various produce items. It certainly continues beyond that time abroad for exported items.
So it is no longer an issue that comes up once every seven years but it already takes up three of those seven years.
For the other four years in the cycle we also benefit from the Shmitta group as we discuss occasional issues relating to mitzvot ha't'luyot ba'Aretz, laws pertaining to the Land of Israel.
We hope that you will join us at any time during this cycle so that we can discuss the fascinating and important issues that can only be observed by those living in the Land of Israel.
