A WANGA is a magical charm or object used by Voudounists for healing, to achieve a desired wish, or for protection against evil. The Voudoun spirits, the LOA, bestow their essence and power into the wanga. Wanga's are attached to a person, worn, or kept in a revered place. Each wanga contains a collection of secret ingredients placed into pouch or cloth square that is made of silk or satin. The wanga may be knotted together with string and cord or tied into a bundle with colorful ribbons.
