Herbal Magickal Properties

' Herbal Magickal Properties'

Please use caution in using herbs and be especially wary of ones that are more toxic then others. Best not to burn any herbs in fully closed rooms and be aware of others in your group, or the area, who may have allergic reactions.

I will not be posting any herbal recipes that would be ingested or consumed as I have no expertise in that field.

Please use common sense, herbs can be very potent. The herbs listed below are components of the recipes for incenses I have included in this site, it is not a complete list, by any means. Might I suggest getting yourself a good, sturdy mortar and pestle to work your incenses. Make sure the bowl will be big enough for all of your herbs to be worked without falling out over the sides, and comfortable enough to hang onto during the (sometimes long) process of blending. The woods and resins require a strong arm at times to powder them, and a heavy pestle works best in my opinion. Herbs used for magickal purposes should be of good quality (if purchasing them, I would not recommend buying them from your local grocery, those are far from the quality needed for magickal work, but can spice a stew or curry nicely.)

Keep your herbs stored in glass (dark, opaque glass such as amber coloured is great) or ceramic or pottery, not plastic or metal, and store out of the sun. Also, do not purchase too much at any one time, unless you are a power-user:) Do consider being creative and substitute herbs that you feel would work for you, and would suit your purpose. Some herbs will "call" to you and you may find yourself using some almost by instinct. Go with it!
