MAY 3, 1999 MOTHER NATURE, WITH ALL HER ANGER, DESTROYED AREAS OF OKLAHOMA AND KANSAS...HUNDREDS WERE INJURED AND TOO MANY DIED IN THE TORNADOES THAT STRUCK...WE OFFER OUR PRAYERS TO ALL THOSE IN OKLAHOMA, WHO HAVE TO SURVIVE ANOTHER DISASTER, AND TO KANSAS. THIS PAGE IS DEDICATED TO OKLAHOMA AND KANSAS AND ALL THEIR CITIZENS.

The Great Spirit Chief who rules above all will smile upon this land....and this time the Indian race is waiting and praying.

CHIEF JOSEPH

While living I want to live well. I know I have to die sometime, but even if the heavens were to fall on me I want to do what is right. There is only one God looking down on us all. We are all children of the one God. God is listening to me. The sun, the darkness, the winds, all are listening to what we now say...

GERONIMO

I am tired of fighting. Our chiefs are killed. Looking Glass is dead. Toohoolhoolzote is dead. The old men are all dead. It is the young men who say "Yes" or "No." He who led the young men (Olikut) is dead. It is cold, and we have no blankets. The little children are freezing to death. My people, some of them, have run away to the hills, and have no blankets, no food. No one knows where they are...perhaps freezing to death. I want to have time to look for my children, and see how many of them I can find. Maybe I shall find them among the dead. Hear me, my chiefs! I am tired. My heart is sick and sad. From where the sun now stands I WILL FIGHT NO MORE FOREVER.

CHIEF JOSEPH

AN INDIAN PRAYER

O' Great Spirit,
Whose voice I hear in the winds,
And whose breath gives life to all the world,
Hear me! I am small and weak, I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty, and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have made and my ears sharp to hear your voice.

Make me wise so that I may understand the things you have taught my people.

Let me learn the lessons you have hidden in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength, not to be greater than my brother, but to fight my greatest enemy, myself.

Make me always ready to come to you with clean hands and straight eyes.

So when life fades, as the fading sunset, my spirit may come to you without shame.
