          smoke--bad during pregnancy to fetus

alcohol--11% of all calories consumed in USA come from

          alcoholic beverages--harmful in many different ways

          drug that changes people thinking--major cause of

          accidents, highway fatalities 50%-75% (50,000/year)

          alcoholism can cause other diseases, predispose to

          other diseases--Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, mental

          retardation--minimal amount of alcohol in blood

          stream found in drivers changes from 0.10% to 0.08%

          #1 abused drug in our society, many social

          implications--20million alcoholics  in USA

accidents--120,000 die/yr., due not include auto accidents

             unpredictable happenings, 90% of cases are

             preventable--350,000-500,000 permanent

             disabling injuries/yr. in USA--$3 million/minute

             caused by accidents

Drug Abuse-Controlled Substances--CSA (Controlled Substance Act), schedule

marijuana--many people would like this to be legalized

      70% of drugs produced in the world are in the USA
