-influenza

-3 different serotypes:  A,B,C

-A is most frequent

-DNA virus

-changes very rapidly

-new strain every 3 or 4 years

-often restricted to upper respiratory tract

-can spread to blood, deadly pnemonia

-can lead to immunocompromization

-2nd streptococcus pnemonia

-vaccination

 

Tx:  Amatoadine--prevents entry

      Interferon--soak kleenex

-use of Vit C megadoses

-
