Abnormal UA

Cloudy—bacteria, squamous cells, RBC, WBC (sitting too long will cloud)

Sp. Gravity (1.005 is Normal) this is dilute 1.035 is the high end—pt increased water

PH—acidic

Nitrites—metabolic waste products of bacteria

Leukocytes increased due to fighting bacteria

Microscopic Remarks:

4+ WBC (max. #) (Pyuria)

2+ RBC (hematuria)

2+ Squamous epithelium

1+ hyaline cast—do not mean upper tract

4+ bacteria

 

 

Dx:  UTI

Is it upper or lower tract infection?  Pt has suprapubic pain—bladder—cystitis

Dysuria—pain on urination

Polyuria—increased frequency

Urgency

RBC and WBC casts for upper tract

Renal cell casts for upper tract

RBC clot for lower tract

Bladder epithelial for lower tract

Urethral stone—only has blood (hematuria)

     count)

2+ Granular and Hyaline casts

1+ Bacteria

2+Renal eipithelial

Upper UTI (kidney infection)

Pyelonephritis
