Myeloproliverative

• Multiple Myeloma—most common primary carcinoma
• Lymphoma
• Leukemia

 

Underproduction of RBC's (reticulocytes)

• Aplastic anemia
• Multiple myeloma—masks as Pathomechanical pain
• Definitive lab test—immuno electrophoresis
• JEMI levels—IgG is elevated
• Marrow biopsy—confirm
• Lymphocytes proliferate in the marrow
• Radiation is a risk factor
• Osteoporosis
• 40-80 y/o needs to be DDx
• Most common carcinoma of the spine—Metastatic ds
• Lymphoma
• Leukemia

 

Lymphocytes—air pockets in the cytoplasm—characteristic for Mono

Left and Right Shift—pharyngitis and lymphadenopathy—Mono—viral infection

Imitator of Mono—HIV—fatigue and lymphadenopathy—low white cell count

 

21 y/o female

• Anemia
• Hypochromic
• Microcytic
• ­ ESR
• erthyrocytosis
• marrow disorder
• leukopnea
• neutropnea
• lymphocytosis
• Thrombocytopnea
• ­ basophils
• all 3 cell lines are affected w/immature myelocytes and lymphocytes
• neoplasm—leukemia
• may have high, low, or normal white cell count
