O u r lll H i s t o r y
Holy Cross parish was founded on November 27, 1960 by then Archbishop of Washington Patrick Cardinal O'Boyle. Our first Pastor was Father Louis Quinn who sought advise from the over 300 families who would make up the new parish, thus in all likelihood, forming the first Parish Council in the United States. With their advise and support, a church and school building were planned and designed. 10 months later the school was openned for business. Archbishop O'Boyle dedicated the church and offered the first Mass on November 26, a day short of our first anniversary.
Holy Cross is located in Montgomery County, Maryland. Its 11.8 acre campus includes a school consisting of pre-kindergarten through eigth grade, a rectory, convent, library, parking lot, game field, and playground.
Imaginatively set back from State Route 547, Strathmore Avenue, these buildings fit together into one masterful design that makes maximal use of the rolling land on which they stand.
