o Titanic
may have cost $250 million to make, but it's broken
box-office records all around the world - ticket sales
added up to $1,5 billion!
o More
than a hundred miles of film were used to create the
movie.
o Before
filming began, director James Cameron spent more time at
the wreck aite of the Titanic than the real-life Titanic
passengers spent on the ship itself.

o It took
just 100 days to construct the set of the mighty Titanic,
which was 90 per cent of the original ship's size.
o Want to
make your own Titanic, just like the one in the movie?
You'll need three-and-a-half million pounds of steel, 30
thousand rivets, 15 thousand sheets of plywood and
several tons of paint.
o The
extras on the set had their own etiquette coach who
taught them how to talk, walk, eat, speak and even laugh
in the correct Edwardian style.

o The
film-makers paid such attention to detail when making the
movie that even the salt and pepper pots were created the
same company as supplid the original Titanic.
o The
sketches you see Jack Dawson draw throughout the movie
were actually done by director James Cameron.
o The
iceberg that stars in the movie was in fact created by
computer special effects - the actors were gazing into
thin air in the iceberg scenes.
o Look
closely at scenes involving Captain John Smith and you
may spot the computer generated passengers!
o Special
machines, which are used to train paratroopers, were
brought in to allow extras to fall convincingly off the
steep deck as the ship is sinking.
o The icy
waters scene at the end of the movies was filmed in a 350
000 gallon tank. Allthough it looks freezing cold, it was
actually quite warm and the extras were given regular
"hot tub" breaks during the gruelling shoot.
o Make-up
artists had to keep topping up Leo and Kate's frozen
make-up with special bluey-white face paint, wax and
crystallizing powder for instant icicle effects.
o At the
Titanic premiere in Tokyo, 100 Japanese police officers
surrounded the cinema and 150 more were drafted in
wearing riot gear.
