The sexy violent otherworld,
Ruled by two rival families,

Two households, Both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona where we lay our scene.
From ancient grudge break into new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes, A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life.

Thank God someone got an idea to make yet another movie about this William Shakespeare's excellent play!!! Now you must be thinking "What the h*** does she mean by that?". Well, the reason is pretty simple: I would have suffered two years without knowing about this guy called Leonardo DiCaprio...have you ever heard about him before? ; ) heh....

I really love this movie, even after I saw Titanic I think R+J is better. I like the shakespearean language and the way this film was directed. It's so colorful and everything.. : ) I envy you who live in U.S and get to read Romeo + Juliet at school!!!!

At the first place I went to see R+J because Claire Danes was in it. At that time MSCL was my favorite series so I wanted to see all of her movies too. At the theatre I was looking at the screen with a close-up to Leo's smile and thinking "WOW....what a guy" and that's it. I was totally obsessed....and I think I still am! : )

The Plot:

In the good old Verona two families, the Montaques and the Capulets, have always been arch enemies. Juliet's parents (Capulets) have a party where also Romeo shows up. At the fishtank (my fave scene) Romeo and Juliet meet each other and fall in love at the first sight... And on the next day they get married. Juliet's cousin Tybalt starts fighting with Romeo's friend Mercutio who dies... Romeo gets furious and kills Tybalt. Nobody can make a murder without a punishment so Romeo is sentenced to get exiled from Verona. He escapes to Mantua for a while to wait the things to get settled down.

But there is one problem - Juliet's father has already promised Juliet for another guy. Father Lawrence gives Juliet some poison that it will look like she had died. Father also writes a letter to Romeo where he explains everything. Unfortunately this letter won't reach him and Romeo really believes that Juliet is dead.

One bad thing in the movie - The sad ending. Romeo takes poison ONE SECOND before Juliet wakes up. Now it's Juliet's turn to get depressed...she takes Romeos "sword" and bang - she is gone too.

Sniff....so sad. At the ending the two foes realise how stupid they have been and where it has lead to. That's why they make a peace.
