Thanks for visiting our home page. Let me start off by telling you a bit about our group.
"We promote the humanistic philosophies and ideals portrayed in the Star Trek myths in a realistic fashion conductive to the continued existence and responsible advancement of human kind. To provide, promote, and support education and positive legal activism in the areas of human rights, racial and sexual equality, environmental causes, and space exploration. The IFT is an organization of Star Trek Fans. It is the only fan organization which was originally conceived and designed by Mr. Gene Roddenberry along with a friend of his named Russ Haslage. It was founded on June 1st, 1984. IT started with the name "Ohio Federation of Trekkers" and its founding flagship, based in Cleveland was called the USS Conquest. The flagship has since changed its name to T'HY'LA' which is the Vulcan word for "more than friend". Since then the organization has grown. To date it is believed to be one, if not the fastest growing Star Trek fan organizations in the world. The name has been changed (when we grew beyond the boundaries of Ohio, then the US, and then moved into other countries) and today we truly have members from all around the world. The IFT is devoted to keeping alive many of the ideals and philosophies brought forth in Star Trek. These include (but are not limits to): harmony among different races and nationalities, the further exploration of space, and to respect and cherish all forms of life. Through our newsletter and by our actions we promote environmental awareness and help to establish new programs to help our ailing planet(its inhabitants that is). We promote education to all regardless of age - because we never stop learning. The IFT keeps its members informed as to the real life difficulties related to the space programs of all our nations. ANd IFT members are involved in humanistic concerns such as the Red Cross, disaster relief organizations, and many others. We are also dedicated to enjoying Star trek myths. Not just the original, and not just the Next Generation. IFT encourages fans to pursue all or any part of Star Trek that is their particular favorite. We encourage our members to add exciting new stories, concepts, and ideas to the "Star Trek Universe".
