Fflewddur Fflam is first encountered in the film when Taran and Eilonwy stumble upon his dungeon cell while a guard is chaining him up. Fflewddur claims to be the greatest bard in Prydain, but his truthful enchanted harp corrects him. His harp, in both the books and the movie, breaks a string whenever Fflewdder lies, exaggerates, or in his own words: "Adds color to the truth". In the movie, Fflewddur is portrayed as a rather old man, but in the books he is supposed to be a young man with spikey blonde hair.
