"Come on, give them a few minutes. They'll come." Lynn said, rolling her eyes.
"How would you know? This is it! They have to come!"
"They'll come! Do you honestly think they wouldn't?" Lynn said. Angela glared and kept pacing.
"And stop pacing!" Lynn said.
"No." Angela said, "it helps me think."
"Stop thinking."
"No."
Angela looked down the street. "Look."
"I can't see anyone." Lynn said, squinting at the street.
"Well... hmm.. it has to be her." Angela said.
"Why?"
"Because it does!"
Lynn stared down the street. "Ha! She kind of looks like you, Ange."
"She does not!" Angela said.
"Hmm... should we go inside?" Lynn asked.
"We can't!"
"Why not?"
"Because... us suddenly disappearing in the middle of a crowded restaurant would kind of effect history. Just a little, you think?"
"Oh... yeah, you're right." Lynn said.
Angela looked down the street again. "Ok, it's Mush and Pie Eater.. and..."
"Where's Jack?" Lynn asked.
"Mush! Pie Eater!" Angela shouted, waving her hands.
"What?" They jogged down the street towards them.
"Where's Jack?" Angela and Lynn cried frantically at the same time.
"He's comin'..." Mush said, shrugging, and wondering what was wrong with them.
"Good." Angela said. She looked down at the ground, "so... umm... I guess..."
"Umm.." Lynn interrupted, trying to stop Angela from babbling, but she was doing the same thing so really, it didn't matter. Mush and Pie Eater were looking at them intently, somewhat concerned, because Angela and Lynn obviously wanted to say something important, and couldn't.
"Look... we, we have to leave." Angela said, quietly.
Pie Eater and Mush looked startled. "What?!" They said. "I mean... why?"
"We just do." Lynn mumbled.
"So, we wanted to say... we wanted to say goodbye." Angela said.
"Yeah. Goodbye." Lynn echoed.
Mush got a sad look on his face. "So... this is... goodbye, huh?"
Angela and Lynn looked at each other, and then stared at the ground, feeling very bad. Pie Eater looked at Lynn strangely, and finally said, "uhh.. Lynn? Can I umm.. talk ta ya... in private?" He motioned with his head and started walking a few feet away from the group.
Lynn shot Angela a very frightened look. Angela kind of glared at her and hissed, "Just go! For pete's sake!" Lynn frowned, and then turned to go, feeling incredibly self-conscious.
"You know, look, I'm sorry. This is kind of abrupt, here, and I'm just sorry to do this to you." Angela said.
"Well, you know, it ain't your fault." Mush looked down at his feet. "I guess," Mush looked up, "I guess I always kinda knew ya were gonna leave sometime."
Angela smiled. "Thank you." There was an uncomfortable pause, where both of them looked down at their feet. They looked up, and laughed nervously.
"Oh, for pete's sake." They walked towards each other and gave each other a hug. Angela and Mush pulled away from each other, feeling kind of self-conscious. Angela looked up, and her eyes locked with Mush's. Oh, what the heck... she thought. It's not like I'll get this chance ever again. She leaned forward and kissed Mush.
Lynn looked at her feet, and didn't say anything. Pie Eater looked at her sheepishly, and grinned shyly. Lynn couldn't help but smile back at him. They both started to talk at once, and then stopped, looking down in embarrassment.
"You go first." Pie Eater said.
"No, no, no.. that's ok, you can go." Lynn said.
"I jus' wanted ta say dat..." he grinned, "I'm gonna miss ya." He finished, quietly.
Lynn blushed, and said, "I'm gonna miss you too." She blushed even harder. Pie Eater stared at Lynn intently, and leaned forward to her. What the heck is he doing? Lynn thought frantically. "Oh!" Lynn said, surprised. She hugged him back.
"Hey." A voice said from behind them.
"Hey, Jack..." Mush said, sadly. Angela slapped Lynn, and motioned with her head to look to her left. Lynn turned.
"It's Elizabeth." Angela hissed.
"No really." Lynn said. They exchanged a look, both knowing what was going to happen next.
"We have to go." Angela said, dazed.
"I guess, yeah." Lynn said.
Pie Eater and Mush looked at them, understanding. Angela's eyes widened. She could see Elizabeth coming up the street.
"Goodbye!" Angela called, as she pulled Lynn into an alley. Angela peeked out around the corner. They watched Pie Eater and Mush dejectedly enter Tibby's. Jack turned to follow them. All of a sudden, everything seemed to move in slow motion, as Jack turned and crashed into Elizabeth. As Angela and Lynn watched intently, their eyes locked, it seemed as if you could see sparks flying. Then everything went black.
The end
