Peter Cook

Peter was born on November 17, 1937, in Torquay, England. He was one of three stars of the London and New York revues Beyond the Fringe and Beyond the Fringe '64 (with Jonathan Miller, Alan Bennett, and Dudley Moore). He later created a scatological comedy routine "Derek & Clive" with Dudley Moore. He was one of five comedians pictured on a set of UK postage stamps issued April 23, 1998. He was the founder and proprietor (under the pseudonym Lord Gnome) of a British satirical magazine Private Eye. He was also the president of the prestigious Cambridge University Footlights Club, and he ran "The Establishment Club" in Greek Street, Soho, London from October 1961 - September 1962.

He wed Wendy Snowden in 1963, Judy Huxtable in 1973, and Lin Chong in 1989, with whom he was married when he died of gastrointestinal hemorrhage January 9, 1995, in Hampstead England.
