These are pictures that I took of the floats, people, and dragons in the beautiful Mulan parade at MGM studios on my recent trip to Walt Disney World. :-)
Mushu MC'd the entire parade! It started with him being biked around in circles in front of everyone so he could could introduce himself as, "The powerful, the pleasurable, the indistructable Mushu". Little did he know, the driver of the bike cart was making fun of him when he wasn't looking. ;-)
The very first float in the parade was of the matchmaker. She's pretty hard to see in this picture, but when she got close up, from her waist up it was a real woman inside the float playing the character! She looked down her nose at the people as she passed by them, especially at me! *Zora wonders briefly if she should worry... ;)* If you look closely, you can see the dancing matchmaker hopefuls behind her and the tiny Crikee she has in the cage she's holding.
The next float in the parade was of a huge Shan-Yu tied to the rocket. In front of him were dancing Huns and behind him was...
Ling, Yao, and Chien-Po! Even though these guys didn't really look like the characters they were playing, they were really funny as they danced together while singing loudly, "Be a MAN!"
After the gang of three came the most impressive float in the parade. A huge Mushu that stretched nearly the entire length of the main street in MGM! If you look carefully, you can see that his back is decorated to look like the Great Wall of China with tiny little soldiers on it. Every few yards he would stop and bow to whomever happened to be sitting closest to him, including yours truly! :-) It was really cute!
The next float in the parade was decorated to look like Mulan's house. On top of it Mulan in her Matchmaker dress, Shang, and Fa Zhou rode, waving to the crowd.
The last float in the parade was of the Emperor. Unlike the matchmaker, a real person didn't play him.
Those are all the pictures of the parade I have and though they came out better than I thought they would, they don't even begin to do this parade justice. So, if you get a chance, go to MGM studios and see it live, you won't be disappointed. :-)
