John has an erotic dream about Marlena and he wakes to find her standing over him. He reaches out to her, but then is shocked at himself for drawing her to bed with him. He confesses to Marlena that hes been fantasising about her and apologises for this. Marlena then confesses that she felt something when he kissed her on the island and she offers to help him make a decision between her and his vows. She pulls off his collar and kisses him. A confused John runs off, promising to return when he figures out what to do.
Vivian meets with Victor in Salem Place and asks again about Kates job. She tells him that she can prove that she is cut out for the position by mending the rift between Austin, Billie and Lucas. Lucas follows Vivians instructions and returns to Titan and apologises to Austin, Carrie and especially Billie. Billie is elated at this outcome, but refuses to believe that Vivian helped Lucas come to his change of mind. Victor and Vivian arrive to witness the reconciliation and Victor tells Vivian the job is hers, on a trial basis. This shocks Billie, but Lucas is obviously pleased. Austin is confused about Lucas sudden change of heart, but he and Carrie look forward to their wedding even more now. Later, Vivian and Lucas celebrate the success of their schemes over coffee, but Lucas is sceptical that Vivian will keep her side of the bargain. She tells him she wont be able to so anything by June, but when she sees Victor talking to another possible candidate for the position, she agrees. Lucas tells her all bets are off otherwise.
Gina is having trouble with her physical training, so Bo is called in to lend a hand. She knows she is strong enough, she just cant seem to do it. Helping Gina reminds Bo of working with Hope, especially a particular exercise involving the vertical wall. She finally manages to climb it because she believed in herself, just like Hope all those years ago. As the training session progresses, Bo is reminded further still of Hope. Billie arrives and takes Bo to lunch. Gina dreams that it is her taking Bo to lunch, but then chides herself for thinking such a thing. Later, she is given her first assignment and warned against getting involved with Bo by her trainer. She reassures him its never going to happen. Meanwhile, Bo finds himself thinking more about Hope/Gina. He goes to a romantic dinner with Billie.
Taking a walk, Alice tells Maggie she is disappointed about Gina and Bo not uncovering anything about Ginas identity in New Orleans. They lament the loss of the puzzle box again. Nearby, however, the blind woman is processing a transaction, but is unsure whether she really wants to sell the box to George, the pawn shop owner. She feels the box has an important destiny. However, she ends up taking the cash and the puzzlebox finds a new home in Georges store. Later, Gina, on her first beat, comes upon Maggie and Alice outside the store. She relates her clumsy experiences at training to them and is shocked to hear that Hope was uncoordinated too. Alice asks her to keep an eye out for the puzzle box before she takes leave, and Gina heads into the store to introduce herself to the owner.
John sees Austin and Carrie picnicking in the park and when he sees how much in love they are, he comes to his decision. Austin tells Carrie he wont let anything come between them. John returns to Marlenas apartment. She tells him she wants to be with him again and asks him if he feels the same...

Stefano wants Peter to get him out of jail, but Celeste is very uncertain that he will come to his rescue. Stefano says that if Peter values his future with Jennifer, hell obey him. Celeste sets off to find him. Kristen visits Stefano in jail, looking for answers. She tells him about the incident with the Holy Water on Smith Island, as well as the windstorm and Father Francis miraculous recovery. Stefano tells her that Marlena is trying to fight the demon inside her. Kristen realises the Holy Water wasnt in her sight the whole time and Stefano tells her that Marlena must have switched the water with river water and warns her to be very careful.
Jack offers unwelcome input to a discussion Jennifer and Peter are having about their honeymoon destination. He suggests LA, where he and Jennifer spent theirs. Peter leaves, and Celeste approaches him outside Jennifers. Afterwards, he heads over to Tonys (whose holiday with Kristen has been postponed because he has to go to Washington) and tells him about Celestes visit and Stefanos demands. He doesnt know whats taking the lawyer so long to get him out of jail, and Tony offers to visit the lawyer. When he does so, he threatens him and tells him that Stefano must be released immediately. Peter visits Stefano and Stefano tells him he must help Marlena. Peter insists that shes fine.
Jennifer is annoyed with Jack for spending a fortune on a toy tea set for Abby. Later, he realises that hes been to manipulative and selfish and that hes been going about winning Jennifer back entirely the wrong way. He prepares himself for the eventuality that he will never win her back. Later, after Alice tells Jennifer that Jacks life is devoted to winning his family back, he is about to go and when asked where he is going, he replies "I dont know." Neither woman likes the sombre look on his face as he leaves.
John rejects Marlenas advances, feeling that she is currently too vulnerable. He has to stay away from her from now on, but the devil wills him to return to her. He resists the urges and escapes to the church. He cant understand why he cant control his feelings and prays to God for help. While he prays, Marlena thrashes wildly about in her bed. Kristen comes to visit Marlena, but no one answers the door and she goes to fetch John. She finds him in the church. His thoughts of Marlena are gone following his prayer. She asks him to come back to Marlenas and open the door for her. They return to the apartment and discover Marlena thrashing about in bed...

Jack is at the Cheatin Heart drowning his sorrows while Jennifer and Peter enjoy a romantic evening at home. Jennifer, howeverm is worried about Jack. Indeed, when he leaves the bar, he is mugged outside. His wallet is taken. A woman witnesses the incident and gives him some money to get home. Later, he meets a man in the park who tells him he can turn his life around. Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom before you can climb up and out of your depression, says the man. Jack decides hes got nothing left to lose and goes with the man.
Jennifer gets a call from the police. They are looking for Jack as they have found his wallet and there is no money in it. Peter tells her that he might just be trying to worry her and is annoyed that he is ruining his evening with Jennifer without even being there.
Celeste reads the tarots and foretells the coming of the men of faith, who know the answers. These three men are at this moment visiting Father Francis in hospital. When questioned by Abe and Lexie, they speak of missing ancient scrolls of great spiritual significance. Abe tells them John may be able to help, but they are shocked to learn that the scrolls were burned. The three men go to examine what remains of them and conclude that they are indeed the missing portion and they pertain to the ultimate battle between good and evil, which will take place when the stars fall from the sky and the moon disappears. There is a lunar eclipse tomorrow night...
Mike is called to Marlenas and she is sedated. Kristen is adamant that Mike is unable to help Marlena - John must accept the truth to be able to help her. Mike wants to check her back into the hospital, but suddenly, Marlena is up and about and refusing to go. The sedative hasnt worked, and Kristen tells them it cant be a side effect of Stefanos drugs as its been weeks since shes had any. Marlena throws a knowing glare towards Kristen before returning to her bedroom. John tells Kristen that her claims that Marlena switched the Holy Water are ridiculous. Later, Marlena overhears Kristen tell John they should admit her to a psychiatric hospital as they are both too close to her to be objective about her condition. Kristen confronts Marlena and the latter is upset and insulted and makes herself out to be the victim. John asks Kristen to leave. John tells Marlena Kristen means well, but she thinks its jealousy. She sends him more erotic thoughts about her and he leaves.
Kristen visits Stefano in jail and asks him to tell her everything about possession. She tells him and Celeste about the fit and Stefano tells her that it was a struggle between Marlena and the devil. Celeste tells her she soon will have the proof she needs to convince John that Marlena is possessed - the three men of faith. She then goes to see Father Francis. He has not yet regained consciousness, but she meets the three men and insists they tell her what is written in the scrolls. She realises that all the signs foretold in the scrolls have happened and that she is right.

Billie continues to be suspicious of Vivian. She is sure shes been up to no good to get Kates job, and cant bear the thought of her sitting in her mothers old seat in the conference room at Titan. Lucas offers to throw Austin and Carrie an engagement party at the Kiriakis mansion tonight. Preparing for the party, Billie is very cold towards Vivian.
Kristen visits John and tells him of the three men and the tremendous battle between good and evil. John dismisses her claims again. He tells Kristen hes worried about her and that he thinks that shes misguided. Billie calls and invites them to the engagement party.
Marlena listens to the radio and is delighted to hear about the freak weather conditions, caused by the demons presence. Carrie comes to invite her to the engagement party. When Marlena hears that John will be there, she accepts the invitation.
At the Cheatin Heart, Gina is out with her colleagues. She and Bo play a game of pool to settle an argument. He tells Gina about the engagement party, but she cant go. Later, while outside the antique shop, she is alerted by an alarm that the shop is being robbed (the heatwave has caused a crime wave).
At the party, Shawn admits he feels sorry for Victor tonight. Victor turns down an offer to dance with Vivian. Later, she warns an unsettled Lucas to keep his cool and be patient. Later, Carrie asks him why he threw the party for them. Kristen has her eye on John and Marlena and she follows them into the garden. She challenges Marlena and Marlena tells her she sounds like a madwoman and warns her not to take her on because she wont like it and she wont win. Kristen is unnerved by the confrontation. She goes to take a phone call in the den, but there is no one at the other end of the line. She goes to leave, and there is a snake on the floor...

Carrie thanks Lucas for throwing the party, telling him hes a very special man.
John hears Kristen cry for help. By the time he arrives in the den, the snake has disappeared. Marlena enters and Kristen accuses her of being responsible for the appearance of the snake. She prays to God in front of Marlena, but it appears to have no effect. (In reality, she has her hands clenched so tightly behind her back as she tries to ignore the prayer, her nails dig into her skin.) Billie and Bo interrupt and Billie is worried about Kristen. They tell her shes fine and that she should return to the party. John gets angry with Kristen again. He tells her that hes very concerned about all the strange goings-on, but Marlena is not behind them. He suggests she goes home to bed. Marlena says she cant take anymore and asks John to take her home. Kristen begs him not to give her a lift and tells Marlena shell never give up. Before she leaves, Marlena puts it to Kristen that if she was possessed, then shed be very afraid indeed if she was Kristen. She screams after John not to go as they leave and prays to God that he will be protected.
Ivan warns Vivian that her latest scheme is a very risky one. Vivian then warns Lucas to play it cool or their plan may fall through. Billie wonders why Vivian and Lucas are talking, and so does Caroline. Bo tells them to lay off it and that theres nothing to be suspicious about. Alice arrives and sees Bo and Billie kissing. She wants them to be happy, but is still sure that Gina is Hope and wonders what sort of pain shed feel now if she saw them. She tells Lucas his mother would be very proud of him for throwing the party, and he tells himself that hes only doing it because he must. She then sees Kristen and asks her whats wrong, but she is told she cannot help. Alice is concerned at this. Kristen leaves for home.
Caroline congratulates Vivian on her new job and comments that shell be spending a hell of a lot of time around Victor now. Vivian becomes worried and decides to sidetrack Caroline with troubles of her own.
Caroline tells Victor that shes surprised by Vivians appointment. While she speaks with him, Vivian talks to Shawn and puts it in his mind that his wife is after Victor. Her plan works, and Shawn is cold towards Caroline when they speak next. He asks her why she and Victor have spent so much time talking this evening. Angry, he goes for a walk.
Carrie and Austin thank Lucas as part of a speech. Later, Lucas learns Carrie is thinking about moving into Austins apartment. Lucas threatens Vivian and warns her to keep her side of the bargain.
Gina tries to take care of the robbery and is nearly shot. Bo is called and he and Billie head over to the crime scene. They find that Gina is alright. She and Bo pursue the thieves, who have dumped their loot, including the puzzle box, in a bin in the park. They eventually give up the chase, narrowly missing finding the box.
Marlena invites John up for a nightcap, but he turns it down. She sends him more erotic thoughts - it is written that tonight she will take his soul and they will go to hell together and Salem will be in the grip of the devil. When John gets home, he finds Marlena in his bed. She attempts to seduce John, but he recalls Kristens warnings and backs off, telling her to get dressed. This incenses the demon, who now intends to unleash its rage on the city tonight. Kristen arrives later and thanks God that John has been spared because he didnt have sex with Marlena.
The demon sends a swarm of bees to the engagement party. Shawn is attacked by a vast number of them and the demon swears that Salem is only feeling the beginning of their agony...
