QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Kristen: What about that bout of anaemia that Marlena had? Mike ran every single test he could think of and he couldn’t come up with anything - there was no reasonable explanation for that. What about that? You tell me what kind of a brain tumor causes a person to strip another woman naked, chain her to a rail and then paint demonic symbols all over her body? And what about that woman that appeared at your loft who looked exactly like me? Who was she? There is no reasonable explanation for any of this! Don’t you get it? There’s something more here - and it’s evil, John! How can you keep denying it?

In the television studio, Jack listens in on Peter and Jennifer’s conversation, and hears Jennifer tell Peter that she doesn’t love Jack anymore and that she has an answer to his proposal which she will give him tonight. Peter arranges for caterers to cook dinner for him and Jennifer at her house. Jennifer tells Laura that she is going to give Peter an answer and encourages Laura to go after Clark, as did Mike earlier at the hospital. Laura goes to bed and is tormented by dreams about Clark. Meanwhile, Jack has obtained the legal paperwork that entitles him to fifty percent of the house and heads over there. Just as Jennifer is about to give Peter his answer, Jack enters.

Marlena wakes up in the hospital and John tells her what she’s been up to. She can’t remember any of it and is shocked and devastated, but determined to find out what is wrong with her. She undergoes all sorts of rigorous medical tests, but they show nothing. Mikis undeterred and vows to find out what is wrong.

Father Francis tries in vain to tell Kristen that the devil is in Marlena, but is still unable to get the words out. Kristen realises that all the trouble started when Father Francis came to Salem, and is sure the answer to the problem with Marlena lies in his ancient scrolls.  John is very unsure, though, but agrees to read the scrolls.

In Father Francis’s study, Kristen feels cold and the foul odour she smelt in Father Francis’s hospital room is present. She tries to convince John that Marlena is possessed by evil and while doing so, the scrolls burst into flames. John is still unconvinced that Marlena is ill from supernatural causes, and he and Kristen go to see Father Francis.

Later, Marlena is tormented by the devil in her head and Father Francis is able to hear her pleas for help. Armed with a vial of Holy Water, he summons as much strength as he can and heads for Marlena’s ward, intent on casting out the demon.

Kristen, John and Mike arrive and wonder what has happened. Kristen tells John that she thinks Marlena attacked Father Francis, but he dismisses this. Later, Mike discovers burn marks on Marlena’s hands.

Jennifer and Peter are furious when Jack tells them he’s moving into her house. They are determined to have Jack’s writ declared invalid on the grounds that Jennifer was tricked into signing it. While making calls to arrange this, Laura comes downstairs and finds Clark standing in her living room and is ecstatic until Jennifer enters the room and introduces him as Jack. Both Laura and Jack are horrified. Later, Jack goes to talk to Laura in her room. They embrace just as Jennifer walks in.

QUOTE OF THE DAY:
Vivian: Let me get this straight. You slept with Sami, but you let Austin think it was Carrie, and then Austin slept with Sami, and Carrie knows nothing about that?
Lucas: No, nothing.
Vivian: Sami certainly gets around, doesn’t she? Would you explain to me why you are telling me this sordid little sex tale?

Vivian is alarmed to learn the insurance company want to investigate her house for arson. She decides not to file a claim so they won’t investigate. She is determined to seduce Victor tonight. Later, she doesn’t pass on a message to Kate that her meeting with Mt Gerhardt tonight has been cancelled. She prepares a candlelight dinner, apparently as a thank you to Kate and Victor for their hospitality. Vivian feigns disappointment that Kate won’t be home from her meeting until late, and she and Victor go ahead with the meal regardless.

Marlena apologises to Sami for what she said last time she visited and tells her she’ll always be there for her. Sami tells Marlena she can’t stop the feelings she has for Austin and that she got him to make love to her. Marlena tells her to go and show Austin how much she loves him. After her departure, the devil says that Sami is a fool.

Lucas runs into Sami on the way home and tells her she’s crazy if she thinks Austin will sleep with her again. She continues on to Austin’s apartment, where she climbs into his bed and waits for him.

Carrie visits Marlena and tells her she’s sure that Sami is responsible for her break-up with Austin. Marlena tells Carrie to go and fight for Austin tonight.

Austin arrives home and is annoyed to find Sami naked in his bed. Meanwhile, Carrie arrives at Austin’s front door.

At the restaurant, Abe tells Lexie he’s concerned about how he’s going to stop the DA from arresting Marlena. Jonah wishes there was something he could do to help Austin and Carrie, as they are so right for each other. Abe reminds him that Marlena and Roman also seemed so perfect for each other. While Wendy and Abe dance, Lexie tells Jonah she’s never seen him so happy. He tells her he’s in love with Wendy and she’s glad to hear this. He thanks God that he and Lexie came to their senses before they acted on their fantasies. Meanwhile, Lynn has arrived at the restaurant and she bitterly tells her date that there is a lot of illicit passion running through the foursome.

Kate arrives home and wonders what’s going on. She is suspicious of Vivian’s motives, especially when she goes on to tell of Gerhardt’s explanation for his absence. Lucas arrives home and asks Vivian for advice about Carrie. She tells him that he must let Carrie find out that Austin slept with Sami. Meanwhile, Kate tells Victor she’ll feel much better when Vivian rebuilds her house, but they find out that Vivian hasn’t filed a claim. Kate grows even more suspicious when she learns Vivian only ordered dinner for two.
