Kristen tells John that there was an evil presence in Father Francis’ room. However, when they re-enter together, everything is fine.
Mike runs tests on Marlena and deduces that she is suffering from anaemia. Disguised as a doctor, Stefano adds a note to Marlena’s chart that her eyes sometimes appear yellow. A blood transfusion is unsuccessful and her blood count is very low.
Arriving at Austin’s to tell Sami about
Marlena, Carrie comes upon the suspicious scene of Sami in lingerie with sexy music
playing in the background. Sami accuses Marlena of faking her condition, and when she goes
in to see her, she is called a hypocrite by Marlena (in the voice of the devil) after she
tells the nurse of how close she is to her mother. She runs out of the room upset, and
John and Mike can’t figure out what is going on.

Sami attempts to seduce Austin, but he still loves Carrie, and rejects her. She runs out in embarrasment and goes to the Cheatin’ Heart, where a group of men hassle her when they recognise her as the girl who shot a man in the groin.
Lucas sneaks some alcohol into Alan’s hospital room and gets him drunk. His tongue loosened, he boasts of raping Sami, while Lucas tapes the whole conversation. Carrie is thrilled and she and Lucas rush the tape to Austin, who is also ecstatic. The pair then begin to discuss their future now that the truth is out, and Sami doesn’t need Austin to protect her. However, they argue and finally break up. Lucas, outside the apartment, overhears and is happy.

Marlena makes a miraculous recovery, much to the amazement of Mike and John.
At the Cheatin’ Heart, Sami is rescued by Lucas. He takes her back to Titan, where she changes into one of Carrie’s shirts, having had beer thrown on her at the bar. Touched by Lucas’ effort with Alan’s confession, she kisses him and then in no time they are making love on the floor. In an attempt to get her mind off Austin, Carrie plans to go to Titan to do some work. However, she ends up going to see Marlena at the hospital. Following the note pinned to Carrie’s apartment door that says she’ll be at work, Austin goes to Titan and finds Lucas with Sami, but he thinks it is Carrie.
Vivian goes into labour.

John takes Marlena home. Afterwards, while praying for a sign at St Luke’s, Gabe appears.
Vivian’s labour is a false alarm, but she is confined to the hospital regardless, much to her dismay.

Gabe tells John that he has quite an ordeal ahead of him and that he must be prepared.
In Chicago, Jennifer meets up with Maggie, who is there on business. They realise Jack is at the airport terminal as well and Jennifer plans to return to Salem, sure that Jack has followed her. Unfortunately, a snowstorm means the cancellation of all flights and Jennifer hires the last car to drive back. Jack stows away in the back.
