Lexie is determined to prove that Celeste started the fire at her house, but when she denies any knowledge of the blaze, Lexie vows to find out what Celeste is hiding.

Lucas tells Carrie he’ll take care of her and takes her back to the Kiriakis mansion. Carrie says that Austin has not only ruined her life, but also Sami’s as well.

Sami is upset by the implication that her baby might not be Austin’s. When Austin expresses worry about Carrie, she dramatically fakes pains in the stomach and is rushed to hospital. She makes Austin accompany her. At the hospital, Dr Bader declares her to be just fine, and Marlena tells Austin he has a lot to answer for, before considering that she has too, what with being possessed by the devil when they needed her the most. Later, Sami asks Austin if he will always be there for her and the baby.

Billie gets home and finds that Bo has returned. She tells him about the shambles at the wedding, and then tells him about her trip to New Orleans, Bobby Lee and the bracelet which gives Gina’s true identity as Hope Brady. Bo thinks Bobby Lee is a liar. She tells him about the puzzlebox which will prove that Gina is Hope, and he reassures her that even if she opens the box, it does not mean Gina is Hope and that he will continue to love her.

Gina opens the puzzlebox. She is finally able to truly believe that she is Hope and she and Alice head to the pub to see Shawn-Douglas. However, Bo arrives and refuses to let Gina see him. She tells him she opened the puzzlebox, and agrees that it could just be a coincidence if it weren’t for all the other things which point to the truth: she is Hope Brady, his wife.

Austin tells Sami he will not turn his back on her and the baby. Jamie later tells her that she must get out of her fantasy and accept that Austin and Carrie are in love. She shows Sami Austin telling John and Marlena that it was all a mistake and he’s in love with Carrie.

Marlena advises Austin to leave Carrie alone as he’s put her through enough pain for one day. In any case, Sami has asked that the baby’s father be present for the sonogram. He is shaken when he sees the baby on the screen.

Carrie tells Lucas she wants to go to Austin’s to collect her stuff. She is upset by the memories the apartment holds for her and calls Marlena at the hospital and is told that Sami and the baby are fine. Austin deduces she’s at his apartment from their conversation.

Alice finds a secret compartment in the puzzlebox which contains a letter from Hope. It is addressed to Bo. He reads it and finds it was written on the morning of their wedding. As he reads it out aloud, Gina begins to recite it along with him and finishes it off. Bo compares Gina’s fingerprints with the ones on the letter and finds that they are a perfect match and that Gina is indeed Hope. They tell Shawn-Douglas (now aged a few years and played by Collin O’Donnell) that his mother is back and he, Bo and Hope are all happy to be reunited as a family.

Caroline calls Victor and tells him that Gina has been found to be Hope. She also admits that she finds Sami’s arrival to be a bit too coincidental. Meanwhile, Vivian is happy that she’s not under pressure from Lucas anymore, and while admitting that it was very tragic about Carrie and Austin, her relationship with Victor was at stake. She is alarmed when she hears of Caroline’s suspicions about Sami’s return. They all head to the pub, where Vivian suggests to Victor that they may become close again. He admits it is possible, but too many of their friends need their support right now.

Austin departs the hospital shortly before Caroline arrives with the news about Gina being Hope. She also airs her suspicions about Sami and is ready to have a nice, long chat with her on the way home to the pub.

Lucas attempts to evacuate Carrie from Austin’s apartment before he gets home. She is sure he won’t come home, though, and sends Lucas to the pub for some food. When he gets there Vivian tells him that Caroline is getting suspicious. Meanwhile, Caroline and Victor interrogate Sami about the expensive dress she was wearing when she returned and she eventually reveals that Vivian bought it for her. She tells them all about what Vivian did for her. They turn to Vivian for an explanation and ask her why she didn’t tell them that Sami would be home for the wedding. She manages to explain her way out of the situation, saying that Sami would only come home if she didn’t call them first. Caroline still isn’t convinced.

Austin arrives at his apartment, but Carrie is not interested in anything he has to say. She gives him her engagement ring back. Back at the pub, Sami and Lucas realise Carrie and Austin must be together at the apartment and race over there. They listen in to the end of their argument, and wish each other luck as they go to comfort their respective loves.

John receives word from the bishop that his petition to be released from the priesthood has been approved, and though happy about this, he tells Marlena that he has grown to respect the priesthood and feels something very valuable has been taken away from him. Marlena senses that something else is troubling him, and after a while they manage to conclude that he hasn’t gotten over the vision of Isabella transforming into the devil during the exorcism. He can’t stop wondering whether she’s truly happy and at peace. Marlena says his problem is spiritual, not medical and recommends prayer. He goes home and looks through an album of pictures of Isabella. Suddenly, there is a bright light and Isabella appears.
