"Nobody’s tried harder than Bo to get to the truth. Except for Billie." - Gina

Jennifer thinks Jack made other arrangements to give her and Peter some time alone. Peter disagrees. Later, Jennifer tells Jack she thinks she knows what it is he’s hiding from her. She tells him that she can sense he’s insecure because he saw her and Jack kissing on the show today. Peter is relieved that this is all she thinks it is.

Jack finds Gina on the pier. He notices that she’s crying. Gina thanks Jack for his concern. He is sorry her trip to New Orleans didn’t yield any information about her identity. They realise they are in similar situations, what with them both wanting their family back, and Gian suggests it may help them both to talk. Jack refuses though - he wants to be alone.

Gina heads to the Cheatin’ Heart, where she orders a beer. A man offers to shout it for her, but she politely declines. When he starts hassling her further, Jack comes along and saves the day. He’s changes his mind about being alone and Gina buys him a beer. They play pool, and Jack clumsily tells her she’s quite good, reminding her of the life she can’t remember. He tells her she’s lots of fun and she’s flattered. He gets frustrated when he sees a couple dancing romantically and snaps a pool cue, much to the chagrin of the bartender. Gina tells Jack he has to let go of some of his anger. He explains why he walked out on Jennifer and she tells him Abby’s illness wasn’t his fault. She goes on to tell him to start a new life for himself. Jack is amazed by Gina’s generosity and thanks her, but accidentally calls her Hope. Gina is shaken by his mistake. Jack tells her that Hope halped him in exactly the same way when Ernesto’s ship sank, but Gina tells him he’s wrong - she’s closed the door on the past. But Jack is sure she is Hope...

Jack goes home and comes upon Peter and Jennifer getting quite close to each other in the living room. Instead of blowing his top (as Peter had hoped), he does not make his presence known and goes backoutside. He stops himself short of smashing a potplant.

Billie and Bo are enjoying a romantic evening together. Sadly, it is interrupted by a call from Craig. They learn that Gina isn’t on a date with him, and the couple wonder why she would lie to them about it. They ultimately decide not to let Gina know that she lied to them. She’d be disappointed if they didn’t make the most of their time alone. They continue on on the rooftop.

Gina arrives home, upset by Jack’s insinuations that she’s Hope. Bo enters to fetch some more ice and comforts her.

Francis warns the group gathered for the exorcism about the imminent horror they are all about to go through. No one takes the option to back out and they go to begin the exorcism. The demon vows that he is ready for them, but they are not ready for him. Francis warns them all again that the demon will try to trick and distract them from the task at hand and advises them to prepare for anything.

Inside her bedroom, Marlena asks Caroline questions she refuses to answer - she knows it is the demon speaking. Marlena tells her Shawn is going to die. Caroline tells her she’s not fooled by her lies and resists when Marlena insists she knows exactly when and how he’s going to die. She reminds Caroline that she sent the bees to the engagement party in the first place. Caroline screams, and by the time the others arrive, she is trying to strangle Marlena. The struggle is broken up and Francis instructs the group to ensure Marlena’s bindings are tight. They pray for strength. They go to begin the exorcism, but there is a strong resistance at Marlena’s bedroom door. When it opens there is a mighty windstorm within.

Austin goes to the rooftop to see Billie. They discuss the wedding plans and recall their awful pasts, but Austin reminds Billie that they are a long way from all that, and that he sees more than happiness in her eyes - he sees confidence.

Downstairs, Gina tells Bo why she’s upset. She’s overwhelmed by the feeling of loss, but the loss of what? Bo tells her he won’t stop until he finds out she really is. She goes on to tell him that the memories Stefano implanted keep surfacing. Bo is sure they’ll go away when she gets her real identity back. Billie comes in and sees them hugging. Gina tells them both about her night at the Cheatin’ Heart. Gina apologises for ruining their night. She vows to repay them - by moving out. Bo and Billie aren’t having any of this, though - there’s plenty of room, and Gina has to think about what’s best for her and her new life. They tell her they’ll help her turn her life around.

On the rooftop, Austin is kept waiting for Billie. Bo arrives and tells him about Gina’s arrival. Austin hopes it didn’t ruin the evening. He tells Bo he’s glad he’s had no cause to be upset about losing his protectiveness of his sister. They go back down to the apartment. Gina goes to bed, trying to tell herself that it’s not possible that she’s Hope. In sleep, she dreams about Bo. She hopes against hope that she is, erm, Hope.

The exorcism team pray for more strength and the demon gets enraged. The tempest subsides, and the demon tells them not to begin the exorcism as there is another who should be present. He refers to Carrie, who has arrived at Marlena’s apartment at that moment. John answers the door and tells her it’s not really a good time, and to go home and to trust him. She’s not happy, but does as he says.

The demon calls Caroline and Kristen sluts because of their adultery. Mike turns the tape on and the exorcism begins. Marlena spits at Father Francis and Kristen gets very angry. Marlena says the only reason Kristen is here is because she wants to have sex with John. Then the demon suggests that John wants Marlena, not Kristen, and Marlena’s clothes fly off. Caroline gets a blanket and covers her. They end for the day - Marlena’s blood pressure is high. While Caroline and Francis keep watch, Kristen and John go to listen to the tape.

Carrie tells Austin about her visit to Marlena. She considers that perhaps John and Marlena were together, but Austin can’t believe that John would break his vows. Carrie isn’t so sure. After all, he had an affair with her. She conveniently remembers Isabella and how much of a wonderful woman she was.

At John’s loft, John and Kristen listen to the tape. Kristen hears something strange, an intelligible female voice. John listens and recognises the voice...

"Do I look frightened?" - Demon
"You will, when you realise - we’re gonna destroy you." - Caroline

Sami dreams of when Austin told her it was over. Later, she snaps at Ashley and apologises. Ashley urges Sami to go home to her family and friends, which she is lucky to have. She briefly considers that they would be happy to see her return. She tells Ashley how great Austin is, how her sister hates her and ruined her life and how in return she broke them up so she knows what it’s like to be alone and miserable.

Austin speaks to Detective Ross about Sami’s whereabouts, then goes on to lament that if he tells Carrie the truth about him and Sami he will lose her. Carrie comes home with a new photo album and they (conveniently) come across a photograph of John and Isabella. Later, they agree that the time they were apart was the worst time of their lives. While Carrie soaks in the tub, Austin takes care of dinner (he orders it from a Chinese takeaway) and vows that nothing will take his future with Carrie away from him. Sami calls and Carrie answers the phone, which annoys Sami to no end. She hangs up without saying a word. Soon afterwards, Ashley tells Sami you can’t make somebody love you, but Sami is determined to stop Carrie and decides she must head back to Salem.

Carrie and Austin eat fortune cookies. Carrie’s fortune says "Beware of the fork in the road to happiness."

John recognises the voice on the tape as that of his late wife Isabella. Back at the penthouse, the demon laughs and challenges John to come and get her. Kristen tells John it can’t be Isabella and that it’s ONE OF THE DEMON’S TRICKS, that the demon turned Marlena’s voice into Isabella’s and is trying to hurt him. However, John needs to know more and heads back to the penthouse.

The demon tells Caroline that he’s not necessarily the master of deceit, and that sometimes the truth can hurt too. He vows that Caroline will believe that before the night is over. Caroline sits on the sofa and prays. The demon causes the sofa to rock and lurch violently. John and Kristen arrive and John orders Kristen to stay downstairs while he speaks with the demon. He arrives at the bedroom and the violent lurching stops. Caroline warns that the demon is up to something before leaving the room.

Downstairs, Caroline tells Kristen that Isabella was a wonderful woman, and Kristen tells Caroline about the voice on the tape. Francis awakens from his rest and asks what’s going on. Upon hearing the explanation, the priest reckons he knows what’s going on.

After getting John to remove his collar, the demon tells him that there will be no eternal life with Isabella in Heaven, because she’s in Hell. John is about to leave the room when Isabella appears in front of him. The demon watches John as he becomes transfixed by her.

                                                                                - John and Isabella

On the pier, Jack bemoans the fact that his dream of winning Jennifer back may never come true.

Jennifer tells Peter she’s not sure how she feels about Abby knowing that her and Peter sleep in the same bed as it must be confusing for her. She promises to make him some hot chocolate if he promises he’ll go home immediately afterwards. Jack arrives home and following his departure, he expresses annoyance that Peter is spoiling his daughter (Peter’s just bought Abby a new porcelain doll). Jennifer suggests that Jack leaves as she’s sick of him tearing down Peter.

Peter calls Jennifer and can hear that she’s upset and asks if it’s because of Jack. Jack bursts into the room with a bleeding Abby and panic ensues. Jennifer and Jack head to the hospital, and while the doctors take a look at Abby, Jack and Jennifer share a tender moment when Jack says Abby’s the only thing he’s ever been proud of. Peter arrives and spoils this. The trio learn that Abby’s porcelain doll was the cause of her injury and Jack is furious with Peter for being so irresponsible.

Francis tells Kristen and Caroline that he thinks the demon is damning John and corrupting his soul. Kristen tries to get into the bedroom but the demon informs her there’s no use and that John is his now. John is unable to hear the relentless banging on the door. Isabella tells John she’s alive again. He touches Isabella as she tells him she’s returned to heal his heart. Outside, Francis explains to Kristen and Caroline that the demon’s power should never be underestimated. They stand together in prayer so that they may get inside the room. Back in the bedroom, John has decided it’s ONE OF THE DEMON’S TRICKS, but Isabella implores him to take her in his arms. She reminds him of the day they brought Brady home from the hospital and tells him he must renounce God if he wants to be together with her again, as God made her suffer the torments of the damned. Kristen, Francis and Caroline manage to bust into the room, but they are neither able to move or see Isabella. The demon explains to them what’s going on. John is eventually able to resist Isabella’s pleas and he watches as his late wife transforms into a hideous cloven-hoofed beast - the devil himself? - and descends back into Hell. The demon gloats that he almost got John and next time he will. He isn’t finished with any of them yet...

Lucas tells Vivian he’s getting impatient - her days as a Titan executive are numbered if she doesn’t come up with a plan to stop Austin and Carrie’s wedding soon. Meanwhile, Sami is determined to walk all the way back to Salem if she has to to keep Austin and Carrie apart. She manages to hitch a lift in a truck, though. At a stopover on the way, she calls Jamie. However, before Jamie can tell her that Carrie and Austin are engaged Sami hangs up. Jamie worries that when Sami returns, the truth will come out.

Victor declines an invitation to breakfast from Vivian - he’s spending the morning with Phillip. She determines to try harder. Later she is thrilled when Victor asks her to go to the rummage sale with him and Phillip.

Billie, Austin and Carrie are organising a rummage sale in Salem Place. Carrie tells Billie how there’s still so much to be done in preparation for the wedding. Billie tells her to go and take care of some of it now while she and Austin look after the rummage sale. Billie goes on to tell Austin she’s really not worried about Gina anymore.

Carrie goes to the Kiriakis mansion and asks Lucas out to dinner to discuss the wedding. She suggests he brings a date with him - Jamie, perhaps? She tells him he’s a great guy, but he notes to himself he’s obviously not great enough for Carrie.

Gina dreams that she is Hope and about to marry Bo. She is shaken by how real the dream seemed and decides it was a genuine memory. Bo goes to the rummage sale, bemoaning the heat wave, and Alice arrives. Gina tells her about the memory, but reminds her that Stefano could’ve implanted it. They decide to look at the book of memories. It isn’t in there, so they figure it must be real. They head to the rummage sale.

Maggie, Shawn, Jonah and Wendy roll up to the rummage sale and make general arses of themselves. They discuss the bizarre bee attack and the plans for Carrie and Austin’s wedding. Craig arrives and learns from Bo and Billie that Gina will be coming as well. He is happy with this - he’s got something to give her: the puzzle box.

Vivian, Victor and Phillip arrive at the sale. Vivian refuses to let Billie hold Phillip. Billie again relates her concerns about Vivian to Victor. Elsewhere Austin tells Carrie not to worry about arranging their honeymoon, he’s got it under control. But he hasn’t really. He and Jonah head to the travel agent bloody quick smart.

Craig goes to show Gina the puzzle box, but Shawn drags her away. Craig reconsiders and doubts a classy lady like Gina would like the box after all and donates it to Shawn’s stall.

Vivian is forced to volunteer to be the target for a pie-throwing competition. Billie is first in line, and forks out heaps of money to hit Vivian with a pie. She eventually does and Victor is full of praise - she’s provided the first laugh he’s had since Kate died. Ivan tells Vivian that Lucas is looking for her and that she’d better come up with a plan soon.

Though Gina doesn’t want to hurt Billie, she has to find out the truth. Alice reminds her there is proof in the form of the puzzlebox.
