Carrie thinks Lucas may be right when he says he thinks that Austin may be drawn into a real relationship with Sami. He is annoyed when Carrie decides to take Marlena’s advice. Jamie is alarmed when Austin speaks as if he were giving up on Carrie, but Sami is happy to hear that Austin has decided that she and Will come first. Lucas tells Sami to play on Austin’s guilt over the baby’s illness. Meanwhile, Carrie suggests that she fix Austin something to eat at her apartment as he is exhausted and needs a rest, and he agrees. Sami gets a nurse to call him and tell him that she needs to be with him. Carrie is getting frustrated.

Vivian is annoyed that Victor has arranged for Caroline to look after Phillip while he is out of town. She sends Ivan to the Brady house to do something which Caroline will have to tend to. He bursts the pipes and place begins to flood.

Kristen cannot believe what Tony has said. Bo finds the gun on the floor and hopes the shooter’s fingerprints are still on it. Laura and Mike fight to save Tony. Maggie goes to look for John while Mickey, Bo and Hope investigate the crime scene. Kristen is very angry when she hears the trip talking about John as if he were a suspect. While waiting for the ambulance, Tony hears Mike and Laura discussing whether John would really have shot him. He is happy as is plan seems to be working. Maggie returns, unable to find John - no one has seen or heard from him since the argument. Mickey sends Bo to find him, wondering where he’s gone and why he’s gone there. As it stands, he’ll be arrested and accused of murder. The ambulance arrives.

John calls Marlena to check on Sami and the baby and she tells him he needn’t return from Aremid, but he tells her he should come back before something happens between him and Tony. Afterwards, he spots the Lady in White and chases her. Bo finds him running around madly.

Stefano has another memory about John and the Lady in White. Marlena can tell that something has come back to him, but he tells her he must fight it. She’s not so sure he’ll be able to. Mickey calls Marlena and tells her that Tony has been shot. She and Stefano make plans to travel to Aremid immediately.

Bo is surprised that John hasn’t heard about the shooting and they hurry back to the house. The road out of town is flooded so they have to take Tony to hospital by helicopter. Kristen tells John that Tony says he shot him. He says he did not, but is dismayed to realise he looks like the prime suspect. Bo is keen to clear everything up before the state police arrive to take over the case. He and Hope take John’s statement of what happened in the room. They point out that he has given himself a motive. John tells them it was almost as if Tony wanted him to attack him. Just then, Tony rips the oxygen mask from his face and tells them to asks him questions now. Tony says that John was the only person in the room and that he shot him.

The Lady in White watches Jennifer and Peter through the window of their honeymoon cottage and is upset that Jennifer wore her wedding dress.

Jack comes across the Lady in White’s cave and finds the drawing of the tombstone with Jennifer’s name on it. Sarah finds Jack and tells him that someone has been shot at the wedding. He persuades her to tell him where Jennifer and Peter have gone and he goes to the cottage and tells them that someone has been shot at the house. Peter reckons he’s lying, but finds that he’s telling the truth when he calls the house to have his story verified.

Victor is surprised to find Vivian minding Phillip. Vivian panics when she learns that Shawn has chicken pox. If Ivan gets them, then they may realise that he burst the pipes at the Brady house.

On the way to Aremid, Marlena ponders John words on the phone that evening, and Stefano wonders if he may have been the one the bullet was intended for.

Jude hides in the wardrobe in Hope’s room and watches her change. He is about to make his move on her when Shawn-Douglas arrives, concerned about the terrible happening at the wedding. She takes him back to his room, and Jude is surprised that she has a kid. Nevertheless, he’s tired of waiting and hopes she comes back.

Jennifer implores Peter to go back to the house to see what’s going on and to get her something to wear. Peter asks Jack to stay and wait with Jennifer just in case. He arrives at the house and is furious that John has not yet been arrested. He asks John how he got the scratches on his hand (Tony scratched him) and wants him out of the house. Mike concedes that it would be best if John left and Bo takes him away. Peter tells Kristen and Tony that he will not let the crime go unpunished. Tony tells Peter something that will ensure that everyone thinks John shot him. Word comes that the chopper has been grounded because of the storm and so Mike decides to get the equipment from the clinic in Aremid that closed down nine months ago and perform the surgery at the house.

Back at the cottage, Jack is upset that Jennifer was listening to their song with Peter. Peter returns and tells them that John shot Tony.

John can’t think of anyone who can vouch for his whereabouts. Bo tells him that Tony said "Don’t shoot me, John, don’t shoot me!" Bo wonders if the womn he was chasing saw him. Outside, the Lady in White wonders if John is really who she thinks he is. John is certain that Kristen would never doubt her innocence, but it turns out that she is far from sure, despite wanting to believe John. Stefano and Marlena arrive, and Jennifer tells Hope that Tony must be delirious. Jack hears her say that she definitely doesn’t love him anymore. He decides to return to Salem in the morning to start his life without Jennifer.

Tony says a tearful goodbye to Stefano. Marlena tells Tony he must not be mistaken about John, but Peter has brought a stenographer and officer of the court to take Tony’s sworn statement so that everyone will know what happened tonight. Tony asks to see Kristen and John, and Kristen is sure that he must have come back to his senses and will clear things up. Jude hears Bo and Hope talking and is unimpressed when Hope refers to Jude as a lowlife. Tony tells the stenographer that John shot him and that if he dies, he wants justice to be served and John is to be punished to the full extent of the law.

There is no doubt in Peter’s mind now that John shot Tony. John get angry with Tony and Tony’s blood pressure drops. Peter vows that John will be indicted and convicted for his murder. Tony tells Kristen that John shot her because of his love for her. The x-ray shows that they won’t even be able to get close to the bullet so they must repair as much of the damage as they can. He is able to stop the internal bleeding. Tony is happy at how well his plan has gone, but as he does, we see his diary sitting on the desk in the sitting room.

Stefano tells Marlena of the horror he’s feeling at Tony’s shooting. She begs him not to let it push him to an act of revenge, but he tells her it’s justice he wants, not revenge. Peter, however, wants revenge and asks Marlena how she can defend John in the face of the overwhelming evidence against him. John tells Marlena that Tony said he was not over her, and hse hates to think that she’d be the cause of all this. John thinks he was subtly being provoked and tells Marlena about the anonymous call and the events of his argument with Tony. Marlena says they must pray that Tony survives, and tells John that she believes him.

Stefano hopes his emotions will not trigger his memory. He is recognised by the Lady in White, and he continues to try and repress his memories when he sees the portrait again. Peter finds Stefano ina distressed state, but he tells him he’s just worried about Tony.

Bo and Hope search the grounds of the house for clues in the stormy weather. Bo doesn’t want to let Hope search on her own, but she persuades him that it would make much more sense to. Hope finds a footprint and shows Bo. Jude vows that they won’t pin the murder on him. When Hope goes out on her own again, Jude kidnaps her and tells her he’s going to make her very sorry for saying what she did.

Sami is not entirely comfortable with the idea of breastfeeding, but Lucas points out that Austin would be moved to tears if she did. Jonah arranges for Carrie and Austin to have dinner together at the pub, but Austin says again that the baby is his first priority. They are about to leave when Caroline tells them that Mickey called with the news that Tony has apparently been shot by John in Aremid. Austin comforts Carrie and Lucas sees and panics. He calls Sami, who realises she must breastfeed the child whether she wants to or not to bring Austin closer to her. Indeed, Austin is very moved by the scene of mother and child.

Celeste tells Abe and Lexie that Tony has been shot in Aremid. Abe thinks the shooting may be connected to Jude St Clair who is in the area, but Celeste says she’s never heard of him. Abe makes plans to go to Aremid, but Celeste forbids Lexie from accompanying him. Eventually, however, they all depart for the town.

Jennifer tells Bo she didn’t see Hope at the pub, which is where he thought she was. They decide they must have missed her. Later, Mickey also tells Bo that Hope wasn’t at the pub.

Jude tells Hope he heard her call him a lowlife. Hope denies leading him on. She explains that she’s just torn about what she wants. She tells him she really likes him and he tells him she really likes him and he tells her to prove it by making love to him. He gets very angry when she attempts to escape. She accuses him of shooting Tony. He tells her he was in her room at the pub when he was shot and says he would be stupid to shoot Stefano DiMera’s son. He will not tell her why he’s in Aremid, but before he can have his way with her she produces a knife and tells him to get out of the shed. She screams for Bo who hears her. She finds him in the storm anf tells him what happened to her. She begs him to return to the shed with her, but they find that Jude has gone. Bo tells Hope he doesn’t ever want to lose her and asks her to never leave him again. Meanwhile, Jude is in pain in the storm - it appears that Hope stabbed him in the eye.

John is shocked to learn that the gun used to shoot Tony is the same sort as his, but he’s confident that his is in a locked box at the loft in Salem. Marlena tells Bo they must find a way to clear John’s name before the police get involved. Bo tells him he’ll do a test on his hands for gunpowder residue. John agrees as he has nothing to hide. Jennifer tells Peter to stop hounding John. She can understand why Kristen can take comfort from John as she did the same with Peter when no one believed in him. Abe arrives and John tells him that Tony says he shot him. Kristen realises that if Abe and Lexie were able to get here by helicopter, then they can get Tony to hospital.

The Parrot Man sees the Lady in White crying and says that the ghost is troubled - it can smell death. He wonders if death will only take one person tonight. Later, he sees Celeste just after she arrives in the town. He recognises her, saying that the ghost from the past is bringing everybody back to Aremid. Afterwards, Stefano tells her he’s come to recognise that their destinies are intertwined and that no matter how hard he tries he can’t seem to get away from the past. She senses a difference in him and wonders if the house is bringing back memories. She tells him she’s been trying to get him to remember Aremid for weeks to protect its secrets and that he caused many people in Aremid harm.

From the gurney, Tony spots his diary sitting on the desk. He summons his last reserves of strength to retrieve it. He is centimetres from it when the Lady in White appears and snatches it out of his grasp. He begs her to throw it in the fire. She lifts her veil and Tony sees her face, shocked that whoever it is is still alive. Kristen, Marlena and John arrive to find Tony unconscious on the floor. He is in avery bad way after the ordeal. He is worried about Kristen, having seen the Lady in White’s face and now that he knows what’s going on in Aremid. He notes that Stefano’s evil will live on in the small town. He whispers the word "beware" to Kristen.

Celeste consults the tarot cards and they portend great disaster, danger and death. The Parrot Man sees the Lady in White crying again and notes that the angel of death is flying over Aremid tonight. In the sitting room of the Blake house, Tony DiMera dies.
