Vivian arrives home to find Ivan drunk. She is horrified to learn that the key to her desk is missing. Upstairs, Kate finds the wedding video and realises that Victor was tricked into marrying Vivian. She confronts Vivian with the evidence, and when Vivian tells Kate that Victor is leaving her, Kate sets her straight. They argue and Kate realises Vivian stole the embryo. She plans to fly to Bermuda on the Kiriakis jet and tell Victor everything, so Vivian drugs her coffee with sleeping pills, so that she’ll fall asleep on her way to the airport. Vivian can then go instead and explain herself to Victor. Before she departs, Kate tells Vivian to get out of her house and leaves letters for Lucas and Billie with the maid. The pilot, Steve, arrives and Kate gives him her coffee...

Meanwhile, Stefano and Celeste infiltrate Marlena’s room, disguise her and manage to escape with her before the hospital is sealed off. By the time John and Bo arrive, she is well and truly gone. At the Kiriakis mansion, Vivian is alarmed to learn that the chauffeur has returned without a doped-out Kate. She speaks to a connection she has at the Pentagon and arranges for a quicker plane to fly her to Bermuda before Kate arrives. Meanwhile, on the Kiriakis jet, Kate wonders if Vivian burnt down her own house, and Steve, the pilot, is getting sleepy.

At air traffic control, Vivain hears some pilots talking and realises with panic that the pilot must have drank the coffee. On the jet, Steve is sound asleep. Kate sends a mayday to air traffic control, and the controller asks Vivian to speak to her to calm her. This does nothing to help and suddenly the plane disappears from the radar. It has crashed, and Vivian is suitably horrified.

Worried about Carrie, Austin calls Billie in Salem and asks her if she has heard from her. Billie fills him in on the developments with Stefano and Marlena and they discuss how great it is to have Kate back in their life. Bea is told to mind her own business when she tells Tyrone that she saw him leave the diner with Carrie. He also tells Austin that he cannot help him. Meanwhile, Carrie is brought food in her cell by a girl called Emily, who she pleads to help her. Emily is frightened of Tyrone, but Carrie promises that Austin and her will protect her if she finds Austin and tells him where she is. Later, Emily comes across Austin in Bea’s diner. She doesn’t tell him anything (even though he shouted her a feed). Tyrone sees them talking, and tells her that she is to stay out of the basement from now on.

Lucas and Jamie meet and discuss how Sami has manipulated them and the consequences of this. Jamie implores Lucas to try and get along with Austin. Later, Lucas goes to Countess Wilhelmina and runs into Billie, who asks him if he would like to join Kate and her for dinner tonight. He doesn’t want to, though, and Billie senses he has something to hide and offers to talk to him about it. Just as Lucas is going to open up to Billie, the phone rings and they are told of Kate’s accident.

Ivan makes Vivian promise to give up the fight for Victor if they find Kate. She agrees, but only if they find her tonight. Otherwise, all bets are off. They take the Kiriakis helicopter out to search for Kate, but they cannot see her in the water.

Against the odds, Kate and the pilot have survived the crash and are fighting for their lives in rough waters. The pilot keeps falling asleep, and Kate vows revenge on Vivian. Kate tries to get the transmitter which is floating nearby in an emergency pack, but is washed away by the current.

Vivian decides no one can know about the drugged coffee and Ivan remembers seeing a letter on the hall table with Kate’s handwriting on it. Meanwhile, at the Kiriakis mansion, Henderson hands Billie an envelope. When Vivian arrives home, Billie confronts her and tells her she has some explaining to do.
