Bo is unhappy when he walks in on Billie and Gina’s confrontation. He tells Billie she must get over her insecurities, and he doesn’t understand why Billie is finding it hard to accept that the kiss meant nothing to either of them. In New Orleans, Bobby Lee gloats to his cellmate that for the right price he can tell Bo that Gina is really Hope Brady.
Jennifer attempts to talk Laura out of pursuing Clark, as she has no guarantee that he wants to be romantically involved with her. Peter discourages Jennifer from calling Daniel on her mother’s behalf. After all, Jennifer didn’t like it when Laura interfered in her love life. Peter goes to meet Daniel on the pier and tells him he’s getting no more money out of him and also that if he doesn’t leave Salem, he’ll be dead.
John tells the demon he cannot be tempted, as he draws his strength to resist from God. In any event, Kristen arrives before he can be tempted, and John then tells the demon that his love for Marlena is good and pure, and that that love will send him back to hell.
After expressing his fears about his dark side to Laura, Tony gets home and receives a call from Kristen, who tells him she’ll be late home as she’s going to John’s to go over some books of Father Francis’ on exorcism. He is not happy about this. At the loft, the demon drugs John and Marlena’s drinks with Marlena’s sedatives. The pass out in a compromising position.

The demon makes John and Kristen dream about each other and implores them both to wake up and indulge in pleasures of the flesh. They wake, realising their dreams are the work of the demon. They decide not to tell Tony, as nothing actually happened.
Looking for Kristen, Tony goes to Marlena’s where the demon shows him images of Kristen and John showering together. Later he catches sight of John comforting Kristen and becomes further convinced that the demon is right. Celeste, worried about Tony, finds out from Caroline that he spoke with the demon and seemed very upset. The demon sends the ghost of Curtis Reed to make sure that Tony follows his orders and kills John.
Carrie and Austin tell Billie she has no reason to feel insecure about Bo’s love. In any case, though Gina’s feelings aren’t her concern, Carrie and Austin believe that Billie and Bo cannot continue to live with her. Later, Billie finds Bobby Lee’s letter in the mail. She goes to find Bo.
The authorities want Gina to work undercover with Bo. Bo asks Abe to convince them to reassign Gina to work with someone else. Later, he gets home to find Gina trying on a shawl that once belonged to Hope at the request of Shawn-Douglas. She is able to explain why, though, and Bo tells her about their undercover pairing. They decide not to say anything to Billie, who, arriving home overhears Gina ask Bo if he ever looks at her and thinks Hope is back. When she goes in, she keeps the letter from Bobby Lee from Bo.

Vivian’s private investigator delivers a copy of Bella magazine with Carrie on the cover to Sami’s place in Seattle. She is incensed when she reads it and starts trashing the house in fury. She goes and steals a car, despite Ashley’s best efforts to stop her , and crashes it.
Carrie is overwhelmed by the surprise bridal shower at the pub. Later, she is somwhat perplexed to learn that twice the usual number of copies of Bella were shipped to Seattle. Vivian reassures Lucas that Sami is sure to be on her way back to Salem to stop the wedding, as Sami actually lays unconscious in the car wreck.
Jack picks up on Peter’s uneasiness when Jennifer announces her plans to see Daniel tonight. He simply explains that he feels they should all respect Laura’s decision to end her relationship with him. Later, Peter meets with Daniel again and gives him one last payment and final instructions to leave town. Daniel, however, vows that he’s not going quietly.
Gina agrees to dinner at Jennifer’s house. After dinner, Jack finds Peter threatening Daniel in the garden. Peter explains that he was telling Daniel that Laura doesn’t want to see him. Jack is not entirely convinced. Peter tells Daniel to leave and Daniel says he’ll get to Jennifer and tell her everything.
Billie tells Bo there’s a problem with a new product line and she has to fly out tonight to take care of it. She flies to New Orleans and tells Bobby Lee she’ll give him all the money she has in exchange for what was written on the bracelet. He agrees, and tells her the horrible truth...

Jack arranges to meet Daniel at Peter’s club. At the club, Peter tells the barman to get rid of Daniel if he sees him. Later, the barman overhears Jack tell a girl he’s meeting Daniel and tells Peter, who vows he’s going to put an end to Daniel once and for all. While he arranges for his men to cover all the entrances to the club, Jack and Jennifer realise it’s their wedding anniversary and dance. Daniel somehow manages to get into the club and is happy to see that Jennifer is there to hear what he has to say as well.
Bo and Gina learn that Shawn-Douglas has gone missing. They find him asleep near Hope’s memorial stone. He wakes and calls Gina ‘mom’. Billie contemplates keeping the truth from everyone, but decides telling Bo is the right thing to do. When she gets home she overhears Bo and Gina discussing the events at the memorial stone and their decision to keep them from her.
Curtis manages to convince Tony that he can’t let John make a fool out of him. He gets a gun and tries to shoot the ghost as Celeste enters. Tony pleads for her help and asks her to lock him in the cellar - he fears he will do something rash.
Mike tells John that Marlena will die if they continue the exorcism. John decides they must continue regardless as they have to take the last chance they have to rid her of the demon. It will be over tonight one way or the other. During the course of the ritual, we hear Marlena’s voice pleading with John to stop as she cannot take it anymore. The demon tells Kristen that Tony replaced her birth control pills with fakes. Suddenly Marlena falls still and Mike announces they’re losing her...

Sami is brought into hospital following her car accident. The P.I. finds her there, and calls Lucas who tells him that Vivian will be on the next flight to Seattle. Sami gets her test results back, and from these, she manages to devise a plan to stop Carrie and Austin’s wedding.
Billie manages to get Bo to tell her about the incident at the memorial stone. She tells him they should move back to the boat and that Gina shouldn’t spend time around Shawn-Douglas anymore. Bo isn’t too happy with this last one, but agrees.
Just as Jack spots Daniel at the club there is a blackout. When the lights come back on Daniel is nowhere to be found. Peter’s men are taking care of him. However, Daniel is able to overpower his captors and makes off bruised and battered for the Horton house. Peter is very annoyed that he’s escaped, but fortunately has a fair idea where he’s gone.
Looking for Daniel, Jack meets Gina on the pier. He accidentally drops his photographs from Smith Island including one featuring the puzzlebox Gina is looking for. Gina finds them when he has gone, planning to return them to him, but she does not look closely enough at them to see the puzzlebox.
Marlena goes into cardiac arrest. When she flatlines, Mike injects adrenaline straight into her heart. However, despite his best efforts, she dies. John is sure this is ONE OF THE DEMON’S TRICKS. The coroner comes for the body.
