Austin is angry with Lucas for letting him think he slept with Carrie. Billie sticks up for Lucas and Austin apologises. Lucas tells Austin that Carrie could do a lot better than him and storms out. Billie runs after him. Carrie tells Austin that they’re together again and that’s all that’s important, but Austin tells her they need to talk about the girl he slept with. Carrie tells him she doesn’t want to know about her.

Ivan warns Vivian not to drink too much. She wears a sombre yet flamboyant dress, and is appalled with Ivan for serving coffee from the same pot she drugged.

Lucas is very annoyed that Carrie and Austin are back together. His anger grows when Steve the pilot drops by with flowers and the thermos, apparently the only item which survived the plane crash. Lucas goes ballistic at him and tells him to leave. Vivian and Ivan are alarmed by the survival of a piece of evidence against them. While she works to turn Lucas against Billie and Austin, Ivan recovers the thermos from the table in the hall (after Billie has called Bo to tell him about it).

As he prepares for Kate’s memorial service, Jack asks Laura what made her change her mind about Peter. She tells him how Peter saved her and Jennifer’s lives when they nearly fell from the roof of University Hospital. Jack suggests that perhaps someone (ie. Peter) deliberately painted her office with toxic paint. His suspicions grow when he learns that Peter was the one who had the paint removed.

On his way in to the Horton house, Peter is angry to receive a call from Daniel. He refuses to give Daniel anymore money. Daniel tells Peter to meet him outside the church before the memorial service. Jennifer narrowly misses hearing the full conversation.

Inside, Jennifer tells Laura that Billie has asked if she could come to Kate’s service and Laura agrees. While Jennifer prepares herself, Jack tells Laura that it’s high time they found out more about Daniel. However, Laura believes it is all a coincidence and tells Jack that Daniel isn’t even in Salem anymore.

Meanwhile, Peter suggests to Jennifer that Laura and Jack are growing closer, but Jennifer thinks that Jack is just trying to win her mother over. Jennifer later expresses this concern to Laura.

Jack meets with Larry, his source, and gets him to find out as much as possible about Daniel. Elsewhere, Peter meets with Daniel and tells him to get out of town and warns him not to try and blackmail him. Soon afterwards, Daniel sees Laura going into the service and decides that Peter won’t get rid of him that easily.

Kate asks the fishermen who rescued her to take her home, but they don’t appear to understand English. She hopes for the best and looks forward to seeing Victor and her baby again. She thinks about Vivian and reckons that she will play on Victor’s vulnerability. She is even more determined to get back to Salem, but comes to realise that the boat won’t be returning for months and that until it does, she must clean fish or she will be thrown back into the sea...

Austin and Carrie are about to go back to bed when they are interrupted by Jonah and Benjamin. They need to stay at the apartment because Wendy’s is being painted, so Carrie decides to visit Marlena. Jonah feels guilty about running everybody out, but Austin tells him not to worry about it. They talk about Kate’s memorial service and how glad Austin was that Carrie was with him. Jonah expresses his surprise that Carrie got over his revelation so quickly, and Austin tells him that she doesn’t know yet, despite his efforts to tell her. He still believes that she has a right to know the truth. He plans a romantic day with Carrie and asks Jonah to come with him to buy an engagement ring.

Marlena vows that John will be hers and sends erotic thoughts to him while he sleeps at the hospital. Kristen comes by and wakes him up. She asks him why he was murmuring Marlena’s name and concludes that he was dreaming about having sex with her. Father Francis is brought back into his room and hears them discussing this and the possibility that Marlena is possessed. He tries to convey something to John but they are unable to understand his meaning and depart so he can rest. However, Frances doesn’t want John to go.

Outside the priest’s room, Kristen and John continue to discuss Marlena and the vows John took all those years ago. John tells Kristen that he’s come to accept and respect the decision she’s made and has decided to stick to his vows. Francis overhears and drops his dictionary on the floor to attract their attention. Kristen is alarmed to the find the book open at the word ‘succubus’. She leaves, and John gets a call from Marlena. She asks if he could pick up some groceries for her. He agrees, and Marlena dresses in a sexy dress that John won’t be able to resist.

Marlena gets excited when the doorbell rings, but is disappointed to find that it is not John, but Carrie. Carrie tells her how sorry she is that her and Austin were unable to find Sami and bring her home. The demon is annoyed to learn that Carrie and Austin are back together. Planning to stir up trouble, Marlena asks if Austin ever explained why he broke up with her to begin with. She mocks horror at the news that he was with another girl. Carrie tells her that she’s forgiven him, but Marlena tells her that Austin’s story that he thought he was with Carrie is a bit far-fetched. She urges Carrie to go and confront him and find out who she was, reasoning that if he loves her, he’ll tell her. Carrie tells her that she doesn’t think she wants to know, but Marlena insists it’s the best way and she’ll feel much better afterwards. Carrie leaves, and shortly afterwards Marlena is furious to find that John has had the groceries delivered instead of bringing them over himself. She throws the goods across the room in a rage, and decides to make the request more urgent.

Stefano is annoyed to see that Celeste has returned to him without fetching Kristen as per her instructions, and also without promise of being released anytime soon. Soon afterwards, Kristen visits and Stefano begs Kristen to believe that Marlena is possessed. She asks him why she should believe him because he put Marlena through hell. He refutes this - he loves her, and reminds her of the blood transfusion which saved Marlena’s life. Kristen admits that that was very interesting, but she doesn’t know what to believe. She comdemns him for talking about saving souls, but he tells her his love for Marlena has changed him in many ways. In order to prove that Marlena is possessed, he gives Kristen a book, "Possessed by Demons: Myth or Fact?", and asks her to read it. Kristen tells him he’s just using all this as an excuse to cover up the fact that he drugged her. He begs her to help Marlena, even if she must hate him. She grabs the book and leaves. When she gets home, she begins to read it. Back at the prison, Stefano’s getting irritable because he’s still in jail and time is running out...

Carrie goes back over to Austin’s, and just as he’s about to propose to her, she asks about the girl who left the lipstick on his pillow...

At the pub with Caroline, John (who has now decided to wear his collar as a reminder to everybody of his commitment to the church) is called by Marlena again. She is now on Smith Island at the Horton cabin. Suddenlt he hears her scream...

"I’m not saying that I think this is the truth, but I don’t want the servants to hear because then they’ll have me committed or something..." - Kristen

Carrie tells Austin she forgives him, but she wants to make sure the other girl is out of his life. He guarantees her that she is. He proposes to her, she accepts and they go to make love.

Gina is studying in Salem Place when Billie and Shawn-Douglas come along. Billie tells Gina she’s heard from Bo, but doesn’t go on to relate anything further, despite spooky incidental music which seemed to suggest she might. The trio look at a vendor selling bracelets and when Gina tries one on, she seems to have a memory. Later, Shawn-Douglas tells Gina how they’re studying heridity at school and he shows her a picture of his parents he has to take with him. He comments on how much she looks like his mother and reassures her that Bo will find out who she really is. He forgets to take the photo with him and as Gina ponders it, she wonders whether the memory she had was real or if it was from Stefano’s book of memories.

Meanwhile, in New Orleans, Janie confronts Bobby Lee and asks for her money. She warns him that Bo will find that he lied to him and hopes the poor girl will find out who she really is before storming out. Bobby Lee is comfortable in the knowledge that he is the only one who does know and he reads the engravement on the bracelet: "To Hope, with all my love, Bo".

Kristen continues to read Stefano’s book about possession. She is frightened when Tony enters the room. He wishes his father would stop filling his wife’s head with superstitious rubbish. To take Kristen’s mind off all this, Tony decides to take her on a trip to the Carribean. She is at first reluctant, and Tony is taken aback by this, but eventually she agrees. He advises her to take a walk or something and forget the book.

However, she returns to the book and Billie comes around. Explaining the book to her, Kristen realises she sounds like a lunatic. She goes on to explain that candidates for possession usually have some deep unresolved pain and are vulnerable and that it manifests itself like a mental or physical disease. Billie realises she is talking about Marlena. Kristen points out all the evidence which supports her case and when she tells Billie that she thinks Marlena is sexually interested in John, Billie accuses her of being jealous, but Kristen, by now quite frustrated ("Grrrrrrhhhhhh!!!") insists that she’s just afraid for John.

After reading some of the book, Billie decides it’s all just too crazy and ridiculous. Kristen asks her not to say anything to Tony, who returns with the news that he’s booked the perfect holiday for him and Kristen.

While considering some destinations, Kristen’s thoughts return to the book again and when Tony sees this, he puts it in the bin.

John calls the cabin back and there is no answer, so he makes haste for the island. However, Marlena is just fine, and she eagerly awaits John’s arrival. When he eventually arrives, Marlena feigns amazement at his presence, but he is relieved to see her fine. It’s very hot and when she goes to remove his jacket, she is repelled by his collar. He registers how uncomfortable she is with it. She tells him the only reason it bothers her is because she doesn’t think of him as a priest. She begs him to stay with her awhile ("Let’s raid the fridge!") as she needs him to chop some wood for the oven. He agrees to cut some for her before he goes and she tries to to get him to take off his shirt as it is "unseasonably" hot. Later,as he chops the wood, he can see Marlena through the cabin window cooling herself seductively with a soaked cloth. He removes the collar. He later removes his shirt and Marlena continues with her saucy carry-on through the window until she’s totally naked and John starts fantasising about her. He is able to resist temptation until he’s confronted by the sight of her bathing. The demon urges John to come to Marlena...

Billie sees Gina at the Brady pub and apologises for having no more news from Bo for her. Gina fears she’ll never know the truth. She returns Shawn-Douglas’s photograph of Bo and Hope to Billie and Billie leaves. Then Gina gets a call at the pub from Janie, who disguises her voice and tells her that if she wants to know who she really is, she must go back to New Orleans quick smart as the answer is there. Gina leaves the pub in a hurry (presumably headed for New Orleans).

Gina calls Alice from the plane to New Orleans to explain what she is doing. Alice hopes that Gina will find out the truth this time. Meanwhile, while Bobby Lee hides his stolen goods, Bo talks to Billie on the phone. Billie can’t understand why the woman who brought them the letter at the restaurant won’t come forward. Bo wishes Billie were there with him. Shortly afterwards, Bo speaks with Bobby Lee and asks him if Gina had any visitors on her first night at the hospital. Bobby Lee tells him that as far as he knows, she didn’t. He is not forthcoming with anymore information. Later, he discovers Gina back at the hospital and demands to know what she is doing in New Orleans. She tells him about the phone call and they consider whether the two clues came from the same woman, or whether it’s just one of Stefano’s tricks. They set to work going through the hospital files again, in the hope of finding something new. Nearby, Bobby Lee gloats to Janie that he’s too smart for Bo Brady - he’s going back to Salem. Janie knows that he shouldn’t be too sure. Indeed, later Bobby Lee is shocked to learn that not only is Bo still around, Gina has returned.

Outside the DiMera house, Peter and Jennifer look forward to spending some time together alone. In the bushes, someone is watching them. Inside, Kristen can’t shake the idea that Marlena is possessed and is trying to seduce John and take away his immortal soul. She recovers Stefano’s book from the bin her husband threw it in and decides she has to do something to ensure John’s safety. When Peter and Jennifer come inside, she tries to hide the book from them, but when they insist she tells them about it, she tells them about her visit to Stefano. Peter is confused as to why she would visit their father and tells her to stay away from him. They ask about the book and Kristen tells them that she’s just interested in the subject.

Jennifer has a flick through the book and reads that possessed people react badly to Holy Water if splashed on their skin. Kristen leaves in a hurry upon hearing this. Jennifer and Peter are bemused and are left to read the book.

Billie visits the DiMera house to give Tony some Countess Wilhelmina stuff. On her way in, she spots Daniel Scott lurking about the yard. Peter goes to check on dinner while Jennifer and Billie talk. Jennifer suggests that Billie goes to New Orleans - it can’t be easy for Bo being in such a romantic place, and since Billie is looking for locations for the next campaign, she should go and check it out. Billie thinks it’s a great idea - she’ll surprise her husband in New Orleans. Before she goes, she tells Peter and Jennifer she saw Daniel outside. They tell her she must be mistaken as he’s out of town. A furious Peter goes outside to look, and Billie makes off to New Orleans.

Later, Peter and Jennifer are finally alone. Peter suggests they go upstairs, and when Jennifer wonders what would happen if Daniel were in town, he changes the subject. Outside, Daniel vows to catch up with Peter later.

In New Orleans, just as Gina is about to give up hope, Bo finds the staff roster for the night that she was brought in and fins that, contrary to what Bobby Lee told them, he was on that night. They also learn that he was in charge of patient personal property. Reasoning that if he was lying about his roster, he was probably lying about Gina having any identification, they attempt to find Bobby Lee but learn from Janie that he finished work half an hour ago. Bo senses that she doesn’t want to help them and Gina realises she was the woman who called her in Salem because she left the pub’s number with her. After initially denying this, she finally relents and gives them Bobby Lee’s address. They hurry to it. Meanwhile, at that address, Bobby Lee prepares to melt down the bracelet...

Kristen visits Francis in hospital and relates her concerns about Marlena to him. She wonders if she should test Marlena with Holy Water and Francis tries to tell her that she should. She seems to register this and makes of with some of Francis’s Holy Water to find Marlena. She learns from Alice that she’s out on the island with John, but upon arriving at the pier, she learns that there aren’t any more boats to the island until tomorrow morning.

On the island, Marlena feigns embarrasment when she realises John is watching her bathe. She reminds him of all the good times they’ve shared in the past. She is unable to persuade him to stay the night with her, so the demon starts a fire. Getting ready to board the boat back to Salem, John spots the smoke and rushes back to save Marlena (and by doing so, misses the last boat back until tomorrow). He manages to put out the fire and they decide an ember from the fire must have started it. He is annoyed to learn that he must stay the night. He refuses to spend the night in the cabin with Marlena, and later, when he asks God why he’s been having these thoughts about Marlena, he finds her in the water, drowning. He recovers her and tries to revive her...

Vivian comments that because Victor is still vulnerable, now is the perfect time to get closer to him. Ivan shows her where he’s hidden the thermos. He’s buried it in the garden where a cement patio will be built tomorrow. Content that it will never be found, Vivian goes back inside, but her dog starts digging about.

Vivian decides to take over Kate’s duties at Titan.

Bo and Gina burst into Bobby Lee’s apartment. There is a struggle and the bracelet is destroyed. Despite pleading with him, Bobby Lee will not tell them anything. Bo confesses to Gina that at a distance the bracelet did look very familiar. Billie enters, having tracked Bo there, and is dismayed to find Gina in New Orleans. When asked why she’s here, Billie tells Bo she was going to surprise him. Bo hauls Bobby Lee off to the police station. Gina decides to take the next flight back to Salem, and Bo and Billie go for dinner, where Billie tells Bo they should take the thermos down to the lab for tests because she doesn’t trust Vivian.

Kristen persuades a couple to lend her their boat so that she can get to Smith Island. (They trust her because they’ve seen her at the pub. No, really.) On the island, John revives Marlena and they kiss. John is horrified about taking advantage of Marlena like that. He admits that he’s been having deep feelings for her. Kristen arrives just in time to prevent them from getting intimate. John is very grateful that Kristen showed up when she did, and he blames himself for what nearly happened with Marlena. Kristen tells him that Marlena is seducing him, but John is not having any of it. She reminds him of the dictionary and the word "succubus" and tells him that Marlena tricked him into coming to the island. He gets really angry when she produces the bottle of Holy Water and announces her intentions. They go to find Marlena, but Marlena enters the clearing they just departed and finds the Holy Water in Kristen’s handbag. When John and Kristen find Marlena, John apologises for what nearly happened and Marlena is shocked by Kristen’s accusations. Left alone together, there is a confrontation between Kristen and Marlena. Marlena goes to strike Kristen and Kristen throws the water on Marlena’s skin...
