Standing in her candle light bedroom with him. She'd waiting so long for this. It seemed so long anyway. His dark hair, he's greenish eyes, his suggestive smile, it was all here. Finally. When he looked at her, her full lips and smoky eyes, her thick mass of red hair, he was overwhelmed. He reached towards her and gently touched her skin with his hands. Caressing her from the inside out. She was wearing a thin strapped, ruby-red night gown, with a silk robe. He lightly removed the robe and watched it fall to the floor. He looked at her. He looked into her eyes which she stared intensely back at him with. He looked down at her mouth, then back up to her eyes. He touched her bare arm, and pulled her to him. He embraced her, never feeling like this in his entire life. Comfort. He touched her burning skin and freed her of one strap, then the other. The night gown slid down her body, and landed at her feet. She glowed in the candle lit room. She touched his chest, pressing her finger tips into his skin. His hot skin. He kissed her deeply and with lust....... ______________________________________________________________________________ Melissa's Apartment June 25th, 10:34 AM "Alex," she whispered softly. "Yes?" "I've never felt this safe before, or as complete." "I haven't either. I feel whole when I'm with you, and I don't want to lose you." Melissa rested her head on his bare chest, feeling strange. She felt that this man had some connection to her, or with those whom she knew, even though she was sure that she'd never set eyes on him before yesterday. Yesterday... Melissa had gone to Washington to see her sister, but her sister hadn't shown up. Dana had promised Melissa that they would go to lunch and then go to Washington's Center for Attitudinal Healing. Melissa assumed Dana's partner, Fox Mulder had rushed Dana off on some case and that Dana had not had time to call Melissa to cancel. Melissa went to lunch though, and waited for Dana. This was where she'd met Alex. ______________________________________________________________________________ Washington D.C. Out door Restaurant June 24th, 12:58 PM Melissa looked at her watch again. It had been two minutes to an hour she'd been waiting for Dana. If Dana hadn't shown up by now, she never would. In walked a man, dark hair, lean body, very appealing. Melissa watched him walk in as meet his eyes to hers. It was only for a brief moment. His eyes were so seductive. Melissa forced her gaze off of this man, but his eyes remained on her. Studying her. She acted casual and decided to order anyway. She'd get a call from Dana later, and all would be understood. The man walked over towards Melissa. She assumed he was going to walk right by her, but he didn't. His eyes traced over her, curious, and yet with a lusty look. He smiled an honest smile. He was so beautiful. "Do you mind if I join you?" Melissa was stunned. Men didn't usually ask so bluntly. At least, not lately. Quick decision... "Um, no, please, sit." "Thank you, my name is Alex." "I'm Melissa." She reached her hand to his and he took it firmly in his strong grasp. Yet gentle. "Am I intruding, are you waiting for someone?" "My sister was supposed to join me, but she's evidently not going to show up." "So you're here alone." "Yes," she said matter of factly. She was surprised that he didn't use any lame pick up lines, he was just charming, but in an honest way. She'd had so many experiences where the men hit on her for what she could give, not for what she was... ______________________________________________________________________________ Melissa's Apartment June 25th, 10:39 "I've never done anything like that before Melissa." "Are you sorry," she asked in a seductive whisper. "No," he said so quickly it surprised her. "Neither am I. You're so different from anyone I've ever known. I know you so well, but I don't even know your last name." "We left the facts out, and opened our hearts." "Yeah." "Melissa, what in your life do you regret most? That's a question I didn't get around to yesterday." Melissa frowned, remembering. "When I was little, I always tried to make everyone believe what I believed and I was known as the girl who could only see her opinion, and try to force everyone else to believe exactly what she believed. I lost many relationships from that in my family. My father, my brothers." Alex leaned over and kissed Melissa's forehead. "I was so stupid. I was such a bitch to my father when I felt he didn't love me as deeply as I would've liked. But I realize that the way my sister at such a young age had such a close relationship with my father, I had just as close one with my mother. I'd wonder how I would've turned out if he'd loved me the way he'd loved my sister. I don't know." He'd only known her for a day. But he felt so close to her. He felt at peace with her. He loved her, and he wanted to love her the way she wanted to be loved. He looked down at her. Her flaming locks of ruby red hair, she was so intense, so passionate, and he loved her all the more for her love for life. He touched his finger to her chin forcing her to look up. He bent to her and kissed her soothingly. She kissed him back with a smile inside her heart. He wrapped his arms around her back as his kiss because deeper and more demanding. The bedroom door swung open as Dana burst into the room. "Missy, I'm so sorry about yester-" Melissa and Alex released each other's lips as she clenched to the covers and looked at her sister. "Dana!" "Melissa. Krycek?" "Agent Scully." "Agent Scully," Melissa questioned, stunned and uncomfortable. "You know my sister?" "Sister? Agent Scully is your sister?" "Yes I'm her sister. Dana Scully, Melissa Scully," Dana said purposely making him look stupid. "Melissa, at one point I was partnered with her current partner," replied Krycek. "Mulder," Melissa questioned. "Yes, Agent Mulder. Look, excuse me, I'm sorry." Alex Krycek rose from the bed, in search of his pants. "Oh god Krycek, no one needs to see you like that," replied Dana. "Dana!" "Melissa, what are you doing?" "Forgive me Dana, but I'm just as confused as the two of you are Dana." "Melissa," Dana said firmly. "Why, why him? How did you meet him?" "When you didn't show up yesterday Dana, I was alone, and he came to my table. We talked." "And you just, fell into bed after one conversation?" "Dana, I'm two years older than you thank you very much, and excuse the hell out of me. I didn't realize you had met Alex." "Alex?" "Yeah." "Excuse me, I'd better be going. I'll talk to you later Melissa." Krycek had clothed himself fully, and with embarrassment stepped out of Melissa's bedroom. <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> "Dana, how could you do that to me?" "Do what? I came over to apologize about not showing up yesterday." "Speaking of that, where were you?" "Oh Mulder dragged me out again to go investigate a case of murders. He was so sure that they were mysterious, but when we arrived at the crime scene, the local police had already found the murderers. I just arrived back. I didn't expect you to be in bed with Krycek." Melissa pushed the covers off her bed and stood up. She walked over and pulled her robe on. "Dana, I'm sorry for whatever you might think of me, but can I just make one point?" "Sure," Dana said, with anger. "I'm not the one who's been waiting for years with someone when they feel so close to them already because of some fear of losing that person. I'm not the one waiting for something to happen when I can't even decide what it is I really want. Now how is what I did any worse than what you're doing?" Dana's faced flushed with red. Embarrassment and anger. ______________________________________________________________________________ Melissa Scully's Apartment June 25th, 11:02 Melissa stepped out of the shower, and she dried herself free of the beads of moisture. She quickly put on a T-shirt and pair of jeans and walked out to the kitchen where her sister sat with her head in her hands. "Dana, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt you or make you so uncomfortable. I just wanted you to understand." "I know, but you had no right to say that when you don't even understand the situation." "If I don't understand it, then tell me." "Mulder's my partner. Business partner. He drives me crazy. One time he woke me up on a Saturday morning to go out and chase a sea monster. He does stuff like that constantly, and he drives me insane!" "Then why do you agree to go?" Dana looked into Missy's eyes, not wanting to answer the question. "Missy, dammit, you don't understand." "No obviously not. Explain to me." "I'm not allowed to have a personal relationship with him. I cannot be involved with him in any way. I would lose everything. Let alone the fact it's not against Bureau policy." "Dana, stop being so damn professional when it comes to your life!" "You don't have any idea what you're talking about Melissa!" "I don't think you do either." Dana exhaled, trying to remain calm. "Okay. Melissa, Mulder and I are partners, we have a friendship based on mutual respect and trust. There is no one I trust more, but that's all there is to our relationship. It is purely professional and that is how it is meant to be." "Oh Dana, why are you now deciding to go by the book. What about Jack? You had a wild affair with him and you two were both working together at the FBI. Why is Mulder different? I doubt this is all about being professional, I think it's about fear." "What fear?" "The fear of opening your heart Dana. The fear of allowing love into your heart. You're so afraid that you'll lose someone you love, so you try desperately to convince yourself you don't need anyone. You don't need anyone. You're the smartest, strongest, most capable person I know, but living in fear is only going to hurt you." "Melissa..." "You're so locked up in your own heart that you refuse to believe you really want more. But you do want more. If you didn't, you wouldn't go with him on all his investigations and you wouldn't love him the way you do." "Missy!" "Dana, for God's sakes, it's okay to love. It's okay to love your business partner. You act as though no one can tell. You tell me that's why they always try to hurt you two, because you both care so deeply about each other. You explain to me that they look for reasons to shut you down. I think that they see that you love each other more than you two do." "Melissa, I didn't come here to talk about this. You don't know what this feels like." "Yes I do Dana." "No you don't." "Dana, hello. Have you so easily forgotten about my teenage life? Have you so easily forgotten how neglected I felt? I know what it's like to be afraid to love. I know what it's like to be afraid, and I'm trying to help you not end up where was for so damn long." "Melissa, I walked in and you were with a man." "Yes, I did. A man you apparently do not approve of. I felt loved around him. More than I've ever felt loved, and that's why he stayed the night. It wasn't like it was our original plan when he came over to my table." "Couldn't you have waited to find out his last name and his occupation?" "Dana, isn't that the basis of what you know about Mulder?" Dana looked down. Melissa walked over to Dana, kneeled, and placed her hand on her sister's shoulder. "Dana, I love you. You're my sister and I care about you more than anyone else. That's why I'm trying to make you see the truth. See yourself and what you're wasting. Dana, live your life to the fullest. Stop waiting for something to happen. You make it happen. I love you, and I'll call you later." Melissa grabbed her coat and walked out the door swiftly. ______________________________________________________________________________ Melissa Scully's Apartment Building June 25th, 12:02 PM Melissa Scully, hoping she'd gotten through her sister, walked out of her apartment building, wanting to get away from the embarrassment of her sister walking in on her and a man. A man that had once been a partner to her sister's partner. What was going on? What was the connection? "Melissa," Krycek screamed from a little ways down the street. "Alex, what are you still doing here," Melissa said as he ran towards her. "I wanted to wait for you. I wanted to apologize." "It's okay. No one knew the whole story, and I don't blame you at all." He pulled her into his arms for a hug. She wrapped her arms around him and closed her eyes with an exhale. She felt so safe in his arms, and more loved than ever. But he'd known her for such a short amount of time. What was going on? "Are you okay," she said soothingly. "I'm just...every time I find something good in my life I lose it." "Let's go somewhere and talk." Melissa took his hand and lead him away. Melissa walked with Alex to a bar. She and him sat down, embarrassed and not knowing where to start. "Are you mad at me Melissa?" "No, not at all. Life is just so complicated, even when you think you know exactly what you're doing." "I love you Melissa." Her eyes looked up at him, at how beautiful and passionate he was. What did he just say? "You've known me for one day." "That's enough. I swear, I fell in love with you the moment I saw you alone at that table. I knew something wonderful was going to happen when I walked over and joined you. I love you, I do." Melissa looked at him questioningly, with a smile. She saw the puppy dog eyes he was looking at her with, and she could feel the desire of being loved and wanted in him. She wanted to fulfill that. She wanted him to feel whole. And maybe, she loved him too. She leaned over forgetting everyone else in the bar, and touched her lips to his. Damn she felt the positive emotions he was meeting her halfway with, and God she did love him. But could it really be love after one day of talking and one night of passion? She leaned back and slowly opened her eyes. She looked into his eyes and smiled. "Meet me back at my place in about three hours. I have to go do something." She kissed him on the mouth one more time, this time a quick good bye kiss. ______________________________________________________________________________ June 25th, 3:31 PM Melissa took a cab to Alexandria. And she did. She walked cautiously down Mulder's hallway hoping he would be there. If he wasn't there, would she have the courage to come back when this really was none of her business? She gently knocked on the door, so gently it was almost as soft as a whisper. She listened like she had last time she'd come to see Mulder, and she heard laughter. It was his. And her sister's. "Yes!" she said allowed, then embarrassed that she'd done so. Finally, something she'd said to Dana had gotten through all of that professional skepticism. Melissa walked away from Mulder's apartment after she ease dropped once more to make sure her ears weren't deceiving her. She heard Dana mumble something, something that was only intended for Mulder's ears. Melissa knew it was her sister though, and was thrilled to hear her sister laugh again. Since she'd been a full grown, strong, beautiful, brilliant woman, Dana had refused to just sitting back, and being a complete goof ball without a care in the world. Melissa was glad to see that there still was the Dana funny, bright, clever, fascinating, silly girl she once knew. Also, she was sharing that part of herself with someone who loved her more than anything. Thank God... ______________________________________________________________________________ Melissa Scully's Apartment June 25th, 4:57 PM Melissa Scully rushed up her stairs, forget the damn elevator, and outside waiting was Alex. Just like he said he would be. He stood up as she ran towards him and she jumped into his arms. She was so happy that she straddled her legs around his stomach with happiness and he lost balance slightly. "Sorry. It's so great!" Melissa hugged him tighter, releasing breaths of happiness. Alex smiled, happy that she was happy. "What, what's so great?" "Everything. Everything is perfect." Melissa gently released her legs from his waist and landed on the floor. She looked at him with her eyes half full with tears. She put both hands around his neck and brought him towards her quickly for a long, deep kiss and they walked into her apartment. ______________________________________________________________________________ Melissa's Apartment Bedroom June 25th, 9:02 PM Melissa lie on one side of her bed, close to Alex but not touching. She smiled to herself and was complete. Not because of Alex, but because right now, she knew in her heart this was the way things were supposed to be. "Melissa, you've told me about your sister, and your mother, but how come you never told me much about your dad?" "There's nothing much to tell. I was very distant from him. He was completely head over heels in love with Dana, and that was okay, but it still hurt." She paused in thought. "Oh, but one time," Melissa said carefully with thought, "he took me out to the mall when I was about nine or so, and he bought be a ring. It had...a really beautiful band, and it was a huge rock, I've always adored rocks, and it was a blue topaz. Not real, but it was real to me because he loved me so much at that moment. "He told me something that didn't mean much then but did later on. He told me that things happen in life, that you can't explain, but if you find yourself in whatever way, and it makes you happy, than you've succeeding in the biggest goal in life." she thought to herself.
