Gillian's brother was diagnosed with neurofibromatosis (NF) at age 3. NF is a neurological disorder and one of the most common genetic diseases of the nervous system. It causes tumors to form on the nerves. On May 3, 1996, Gillian addressed members of Congress on the subject of more education and funding for NF research.
