The Movie Lists Page

These lists reflect my current opinions. And I love being controversial (hehe), so I'd love to hear your opinions on these lists. Feel free to disagree, agree, whatever. I'd also really like to encourage you to send your own lists of whatever you want. I'll post them on the site in the future.

10 Most Fun Movies

(These movies are not necessarily "good" in the film theory sense. They're just great fun.)

  1. Noises Off!

  2. Scream

  3. Antz

  4. Evil Dead II

  5. Scream 2

  6. Babe

  7. The Wedding Singer

  8. There's Something About Mary

  9. Tank Girl

  10. Better Off Dead

(If you're surprised to see "Antz" so high, then you probably haven't seen it yet. It has very similar themes with other movies that I like, for instance: "Brazil," "Gattaca," "Dark City," and "The Truman Show." These movies all, to some extent, dealt with the issue of individuality, and how it is a gift. Through being different, we bring change, and the world can keep turning. Go see Antz, it's very entertaining.)

Most Amazing Visuals

  1. Dark City

  2. City of Lost Children

  3. Brazil

  4. Antz

  5. Gattaca

  6. 12 Monkeys

  7. Blade Runner

  8. Star Wars

  9. Babe

  10. Toy Story

Biggest Disappointments

(These are not necessarily bad movies, some of them were actually good, they just didn't seem to live up to the overextensive hype they were given.)

  1. Alien: Resurrection

  2. The English Patient

  3. In The Company Of Men

  4. Shine

  5. Godzilla

  6. Lost In Space

  7. The Full Monty

  8. The Avengers

  9. Sliding Doors

  10. The Replacement Killers

My Least Favorite Movies

(Notice the absence of "Manos: The Hands of Fate" on this list. Yes, it's true...I'd rather be watching "Manos..." than anything on this list.)

  1. Gone Fishin' (What can I say, this is the most uncomfortable any movie has ever made me feel. There wasn't a joke in this "comedy" that didn't fall flat on its face. Poor us. Tried many new ways to commit suicide during this.)

  2. Anaconda (If you've seen it, you probably already agree with me. The cast was so bad, I WANTED them to get fed to the snake. That is, until I saw how bad the snake looked, at which point I hoped the whole movie would get fed to a giant barracuda.)

  3. Lost In Space (Oh my, I almost had to leave the theater. Checked my watch far too many times.)

  4. Unstrung Heroes (Simply went nowhere, and took its grand old time getting there, and the whole time I had the false hope that it might develop into something great.)

  5. Wild Things (What acting? I'm convinced they were making up each "unpredictable" plot twist up as they went along.....and they did it so well that they had to explain it all to the audience during the credits, as if to say "sorry for this movie, maybe this pretentious conclusion will make up for it.")

  6. Desperate Measures (More suicide attempts. This plot has been done so many times, and much better. I feel bad that they wasted Michael Keaton on this dung heap.)

  7. (Anything with Steven Seagal or Jean-Claude Van-Dumb)

  8. Alien: Resurrection (Other than the great visuals from Jeunet, this movie was nauseating, boring, cliched and stupid all at one time.)

  9. The Object of My Affection (PLEASE NO!! This film was bad in so many ways, not the least of which was having no characters with which to be sympathetic.)

  10. Godzilla (During this movie, I kept thinking about wise allocation of large funds, and how this film was not a good example of that. Plus it made me want to throw myself in front of a speedy spiked steam roller.)

[That's it for now. If you guys want to send me some of your own lists, I'll add them. And I'll keep updating these.]
