Synopsis

Note: This synopsis came from Time-Warner's official Babylon 5 page.

Telepath Lyta Alexander (PATRICIA TALLMAN) returns to Babylon 5 as an aide to Vorlon Ambassador Kosh. Everyone is surprised to learn that she has actually visited the Vorlon homeworld. Dr. Franklin (RICHARD BIGGS) suggests she undergo a routine physical after her journey and is puzzled when he finds that she's in better health than when she left, finding no trace of prior chronic conditions.

While watching a news broadcast about a murderer on Earth who has been sentenced to "death of personality," Garibaldi (JERRY DOYLE) explains to Ambassador Delenn (MIRA FURLAN) that this type of punishment has replaced the death penalty. He explains that a "mindwipe" erases the personality of the criminal and replaces it with a new one before placing him or her in some form of community service.

Meanwhile, Brother Edward (BRAD DOURIF), one of the monks who recently arrived on Babylon 5, is surprised to find a black rose in his tote bag and the phrase "Death Walks Among Us" in blood on his bedroom wall. When Garibaldi arrives to investigate, no blood is found on the wall, making Brother Edward wonder if he is losing his mind. Later in the hallway, Brother Edward hears a woman screaming and a voice calling out to someone named Charlie. Again, he sees the words in blood and has a vision of a horrible murder being committed.

When Brother Edward confides to Brother Theo (LOUIS TURENNE) that he fears he's possibly having memories of horrible things from the past, Brother Theo asks Captain Sheridan for help. Both Brother Edward and Sheridan's crew set out to investigate his past, using the clues they have found. It turns out that Brother Edward was a former murderer who was sentenced to death of personality, but a family member of one of the victims didn't feel the punishment suited the crimes, so he hired a Centauri telepath to help break the mindwipe, bringing back the memories before planning to kill him.
