By Micki L. Bailey
So this is growing old together
You opting for softball over racquetball
Me going to a one-piece swimsuit
Creaks, pains, and back massages
A couple of pounds that wont be shed
Falling asleep at night before loving
Before talking about everything
Me kissing a new line under your eye
You taking mens vitamins, for me
Watching the sunrise with orange juice
Smiling across a crowded room without a word
A worn flannel nightgown and torn boxer shorts
Copper cookware and a pool table
You tolerating the cat more and more
Me tolerating your poker nights at all
Never looking for the subtle changes
Not noticing them when theyve arrived
And still that longed-for embrace
After a day of being apart
Its a beautiful life
