The Auction
I walked back over to the auction, wondering if anything more exciting was happening. Low and behold, Adrian and Roger Daltry were running the auction!! The whole time they were clowning around and because it was open seating I got to sit fairly close and got quite a few pict's.
About when I arrived Adrian was joking to Roger about auctioning off one of
his shirts(he was wearing a blue button up over a blue T-shirt). Roger had been
kind of quiet, but looked at him shocked, pulled a bit on the button up and
said "But I wore this at Woodstock!!"
"Really?"
"Yes, I did!"
"Well, how about the one underneath?"
"Well, no that one's not from Woodstock, perhaps. . ."
and about there Adrian leapt in and started taking bids for it. As bidding
began to climb they bantered back and forth about Roger having to take his
shirt off, so he does!!! (and bidding started climbing higher and higher) :)
The shirt ended up going for $3,100.
Adrian bantered with the crowd a bit as Roger went to get the next auction
piece. It ended up being the monk costume from Song of the Executioner. Roger
held it up and starts fumbling around with it.
Adrian: "What, are you going to put that on?!?"
Roger: (as he searched about trying to figure it out) "You know, I've always
wanted to have my hand up your cassock!"
They started auctioning it off, but the whole time Adrian and Roger are joking back and forth as they try to get Roger in the costume. Stuff like: "Now do you see what we had to work with?" "You know, we had to help him dress every day."
But to see Roger Daltry try to act penitent in that costume!! It was so hilarious, and once they got it on Adrian pulled the hood down so Roger looked a bit like 'death' from Shadows.
The next thing to be sold was the jacket Adrian wore in The Darkness (sniff!!). It ended up going for $6000. The auction mellowed a bit during this part. Adrian talked about how he never wore it after that episode, and then, rubbing the sleeves he said, "Hey, and it's still warm."
The next moment will be a classic memory for me. It was supposed to be the outfit from The Samurai next, but Adrian turned around and Roger leapt on stage with Kristen's dress from Chivalry on!! The crowd went wild and Adrian himself was having a hard time saying anything. Roger paraded about the stage and posed here and there. Adrian joked about the amount of cleavage the dress gave Roger and Roger slapped Adrian's hand when he tried to adjust the front laces. Adrian joked that they'd have to start the bidding at $1, but it ended up going for $1,500.
The Samurai costume was next, and shouts went up from the crowd for Adrian
to put it on. "You want me to wear this?!?"
"Yes!"
(he turns around and pretends to unzip)
(from the crowd) "I'll pay $500 for that!!"
Adrian whips around and points at her "SOLD!"
Everyone began laughing hysterically, and it almost seemed as if Adrian blushed a bit before saying "Oh it's getting lewd now!!"
Daltry also sold one of his mic's (after showing his patented twirl) for $3,600. He left right after that, and Adrian was about to leave when Panzer came out and told him he had one more item he had to sell. The T-bird!
The room really went wild during this auction, despite a few jokes from Adrian about the car. Bidding started at $10,00 and ended at $61,000! Adrian left right after it sold, but not before handing the mic over to Stan.
Stan joked about also, but had a hard time keeping up with the professional auctioneers (who had ceased most of their work when Adrian was on stage). Stan kept making fun of their rambling nature. His outfit from his first death was the first item he sold. Of course, everyone wanted to see him in it, so he took off his shirt and displayed the other shirt for a bit. When bidding didn't sky rocket he said "Oh,. . .I get it, . .you guys just wanted my shirt off, you weren't interested in the outfit."
I really felt bad that Stan had to follow Adrian and the T-bird. The excitement level kind of dropped and you could tell he was hurt, especially when the bike only went for $6,500.
Myles Ferguson joined him to sell his jacket, and here again I felt kind of bad. Bidding was really low,. . but what do you expect for a kids jacket from a character people loved to hate? He and Stan did joke around a bit, and Myles commented that if Adrian came out he'd get more for the jacket. Stan replied, "Don't worry about Adrian,. . .just don't turn your back on him!"
I left before bidding finished and got to go meet Starlite and Starchild. It was 8:00 and I just realized that I hadn't eaten all day. I decided to get in line for one of the hotel restaurants and found BJ and two other forumlanders to sit with.
