The following is a brilliant commentary which was contributed to the DCBB posting board by Jim Griffin. It's been reproduced and placed on this page without his permission, but it's just so terrific I couldn't resist. So, it gets its own page and hopefully some well-deserved praise. Enjoy.

Irony - Kevin Williamson Style

Kevin Williamson is the best writer ever. Not really. I was just being as wildly ironic and postmodern as the genius himself. After making three really awful movies, I was glad when I heard he would be bringing his own brand of cliche-ridden shite into the world of TV.

Such daring originality, such fresh characterisation. Nope, I was being ironic again. I love the way every character, young and old, cliched and stereotyped, sounds exactly the same. I love the way the cast looks fifteen years old. They really, truly do. No, honestly they do. Yep, they're absolutely fifteen years old.

It's sooooo daring to have a young unmarried couple with a baby, and for one of them to be of non-white origin!! No wait, it's not 1952 anymore,
is it?

I look forward to seeing how many more cliches and incredibly subtle in-jokes there will be in future episodes. Who knows? Maybe they'll come up with a plot that WASN'T set up in the pilot. What's that you say? The show's going nowhere? Oh, rubbish. It's a groundbreaking show that will be remembered forever.

Er... which show was I talking about? Oh yeah, Dawson Creaks. No, Dawson's Crack? Um... Les Crap?

Anyway, it's shite. That concludes the first instalment of my "Why Dawson's Creek Is Shite" essay. Part Two, entitled "Does Williamson Even Know What The F--- Irony Is Anyway?" will appear soon. Hooray!!
