The Best of Timothy Dalton

The Best of Timothy Dalton as Bond

THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS (1987)
James Bond helps a defecting soviet general escape from the Iron Curtain only to see a chellist holding a rifle on his subject. The General is recaptured, and Bond befriends Kara Milovy, the Chellist, to find out why she was trying to shoot him. He escapes with her first to Vienna, then to Morocco, finally ending up in a prison in Soviet occupied Afghanistan as he tries to find out what's really going on. I love the script. The movie is very well sequenced, and the car chase is great. But originally Brosnan was supposed to play James Bond, it should have been him!! And what's up with this southern guy playing Felix Leiter? Whatever. I liked it, though. It was a lot better than License to Kill, anway.
