Lewis is a lot like Pembleton: Adheres to his own style, brashly individualistic. But he has
the camaraderie with his fellow detectives that Pembleton lacks. Crosetti, referred to by
Lewis as "salami-brain", seems like the jaded-yet-mostly-jolly Italian detective from the old
neighborhood, yet his secret depression is revealed when he commits suicide. Lewis never really
forgives himself for not recognizing Crosetti's problem, and tries to purge himself in his
extended 5th and 6th season feud with his own white whale, drug czar Luther Mahoney. Season 7 leaves Meldrick with a new partner, played by Michele Michael.
