MAKING VIDCAPS:
 
 The video frame captures displayed in this site were made using the "Snappy" device and associated 32-bit software for Windows95.
 
IMAGE PROCESSING:
 
 Even at their best, 640x480 vidcap images look very "low res," so I resize most of my captures to approximately 400x300 to improve the appearance.  (Hurry DigitalTV!!!)  I adjust the brightness, contrast, color balance, etc. so the images appear best on my screen—but your video driver and browser may cause the images to appear differently (so you may have to make adjustments of your own.) 
 
PAGE COMPOSITION:
 
 Netscape Communicator (4.04)—Composer.   Now FREE! 
SUPPORT NETSCAPE!!!—It irritates Bill Gates.   J
 
FONTS OF WISDOM:
 
 I use the following fonts on my pages.
 
Ariel
 Used for most text.  (I like the clean, sans serif look.)
 
Wingdigs
 For symbols and such.  (If you occasionally see a capital letter "J" in a context that would make a lot more sense for a "smiley face" (J), it's probably 'cause you don't have Wingdigs.)
 
Symbol
 Also used for symbols.
 
 Using fonts in page layout can be a bad idea, because people who don't have any fonts in question won't see your exact design.  For that reason, 
  • I use only the most common fonts in my designs,
  • I try not to make font choice critical to the layout, 
  • and I make sparing use of the exotic fonts.
